1. More on Aramaic “Personal” Pronouns: In the previous

installation of these “Annotations”, we looked at Aramaic personal pronouns and
I want to continue that here. The reason for this is to provide you with a
memorization tip that I myself have started to use. Below, you see the table from
the previous notes and I am going to use that transliterated table, to show you how
I’m memorizing these words.

Aramaic Transliterated Personal Pronoun Table

’ǎnah ’ǎnaḥnah
’antə (or ’antah) ’antūwn (or ’antōwm)
’antī y ’anten
hūw’ himmōw (or himmōwn or ’innūwn)
hī y’ ’innyyn

2. Morphing Pronouns: One of the first things you should notice that’s
change about the table is the added arrow. Just imagine that arrow going across
all 5 rows. The arrow represents a “morph” from the word on the left to the word
on the right. This morph is represented below. Also remember that the 5 rows
represent 1st, 2nd and 3rd person gender & number. The two columns represent
singular and plural. Thus, with the table, instead of memorizing each word of
each column, to give ourselves a break and to memorize more quickly, we’ll
move from left to right and do two words at once. Here’s how I see the words
morphing: The highlighted portions represent the changes that have taken place:

Morphing:

’ǎnah ’ǎnaḥnah
’antə ’antūwn
’antī y ’anten
hūw’ himmōw
hī y’ ’innyyn

3. Tips: What I notice about these is:

a. That the first 3 sets all begin with “ant” and then the endings morph when
they get into the plural. The remaining letters, with the exception of the 3
person pl. begins with an ’i. Still, you can note the similarities between it
and the singular version as they both have to do with “i” and “y”.
b. That the endings of the 1CS & 1CP and the 2FS & 2FP are similar.
c. That all of the endings of the singular column are odd looking endings,
except for 1CS whereas the endings of the plurals are all pretty basic
(w/the exception of the 3MP).
