START UP
Before the unit is put in operation,
ensure all the manholes, peepholes are
closed properly.
Start spout-cooling pumps PU 15 or PU
16 and ensure cooling water is being
supplied to the bearings of the feed
water pump PU -01 or PU-02 and to the
glands of other pumps.
Fill the steam drum with DM water up to
the required level. Open all the vents.
Start the oil circulation system by start
pumps PU-17 or PU-18 and maintain the
required temperature (TV 5638 )by
supplying the steam.

Light up the auxiliary oil burners one by
one in rotation to heat all the parts of
lower furnace properly. Check for unburnt oil- particles regularly and adjust
oil pressure accordingly

Black liquor

Continue oil firing and follow the

pressure rising curve supplied by the
manufacture. During the pressure rise
maintain the steam drum level by blow
down.

Black liquor
Operator

When drum pressure is 2-3 kg/cm2, close

all the vent valves except for start up
vent valve.

Boiler
Attendant

Start the HBL circulation in the system

as the steam pressure and temperature
take a rising trend

Black liquor
Operator

Start liquor guns intermittently as the

furnace temperature rises and steam
temperature reaches 300degC
After reaching the required boiler drum
pressure, take the unit online & open the
main steam stop valve & close the start
up vent valve.
