    ItgivesmegreatpleasuretojoinyouinyourbeautifulCountytodaytohandoverthe18thfully
    kittedmobileclinicproudlysponsoredbytheBeyondZerocampaign.

    Isincerelythankyouforthewarmwelcomeyouhaveaccordedustoday.Welookforwardto
    establishingagoodworkingpartnershipbetweenthepeopleandleadershipofLaikipiaCountyandthe
    BeyondZeroteamforthebenefitofmothersandchildrenofthisgreatcounty.

    Ihavestatedonnumerousoccasionsthatallourcollectiveenergiesandresourcesneedtobeharnessed
    toensurethatnomotherorchilddiesofpreventablecausesinthisdayandage.

    Withtheaveragedistanceof15kmtothenearesthealthfacilityinLaikipia,itiscrucialthat
    wegetadditionalmobileclinicsontheground.Thiswillgreatlyeasetheplightofpregnantwomen
    whoneedquickaccesstomedicalfacilitiesduringlabourandupondelivery.

    Butonemobileclinic,thoughagoodstart,willnotbeenoughtoserveeveryoneinthisvastcounty.
    TheCountyGovernmentshouldmobilisemorefundstothehealthsectortomakecritical
    facilitiesavailabletothepeopleofLaikipia.

    TheaimoftheBeyondZerocampaignistominimiseandeventuallybringtoanendmothertochild
    transmissionofHIVduringchildbirth,ineffectenablingustobepartofthesolution.

    ThespreadofHIVmustconcernallofus.StatisticsfromtheMinistryofHealthshowsthatbytheend
    of2013,10,324peoplewerelivingwiththevirusinLaikipia,withchildrenconstituting13percent.

    Thisisahugenumbertakingintoaccountthat73percentofresidentshadnottestedforHIVby2009.
    Therefore,allthenecessaryandurgentmeasurestostemthisworryingtrendneedtobetaken.

    Inowwishtotakethisopportunitytoinviteyoutojoinusonthe8thofMarchfortheFirstLady'sHalf
    MarathoninNairobitoraisemorefundsforthepurchaseofadditionalmobileclinics.

    However,makesureyoupractiseandpreparesufficientlysothatyouwillbeabletocompletethe
    race.Icantellyoufromexperiencethatitrequiresyourphysicalandmentalfacultiestobeattheir
    best.

    Besidesrunningtoraisemoney,themarathongivesparticipantstheadditionalbenefitsofensuring
    theyremainingoodhealth.

    Physicalinactivityisthefourthleadingriskfactorforglobalmortalityandcontributes6percentof
    deathworldwide.DatafromtheWorldHealthOrganisationrevealsthatmorethan60percentofthe
    worldspopulationisnotphysicallyactive.

    Whenyoujoinmeintheforthcomingmarathon,youwillbejoiningglobaleffortstoreduce
    unnecessaryandprematuredeathsoccasionedbyinactivityandlackofexercise.Thesestandatone
    deathforevery10peopleworldwide.
