Teacher Activity

Set Induction
(5 minutes)

1. Teacher shows pupils video clips on fast and

slow moving objects.
2. Teacher asks what pupils feels when riding
fast cars.

Generation of
Ideas
(15 minutes)

*Teacher fill in toy car, ruler and digital

stopwatch in box*
1. Teacher asks selected pupils to come in
front, feel the content in box, guess the content
and take out the content.
2. Teacher asks how they know whether the
object is fast or slow by making use of the
objects taken out of the box.

1. Selected pupils feel the

content, try to guess the
content and take out the
content to show other
pupils.
2. Pupils try to answer the
questions. Pupils try to
make use of the toy car,
ruler and digital stopwatch
to demonstrate how fast the
car is moving.

Reconstruction
of Ideas
(40 minutes)

1. Pupils are divided into groups.

2. Teacher asks pupils to use the 1-meter rule
to track the distance of 100cm on table.
3. Pupils use the car to be catapulted using the
rubber band from the starting point. The car is
pushed back 3cm and 7cm to get the potential
energy (total distance moved is 100cm).
4. Pupils use the digital stopwatch to record the
time when the toy car moved at a distance of
100cm with different potential energy.
5. Pupils record the findings in a table.
6. Teacher asks pupils :
i. what the stopwatch is used for.
ii. what the distance the toy car moved.
iii. which car moved the fastest and slowest.
7. Teacher asks pupils to formulate the Formula
for Speed.
8. Teacher asks pupils to calculate the speed
for each toy car.

1.Pupils
execute
experiment.

Application
(20 minutes)

1. Teacher approves and defines Speed

Formula.
2. Teacher gives a sample question and
discusses the answers with pupils.
3. Teacher gives 2 sample questions and the
pupils try to solve questions on whiteboard.
Teacher corrects any mistakes.
4. Teacher gives another 5 questions for the
pupils to solve in their notebooks.

1. Pupils discuss the answer

with teacher.

Closure
(10 minutes)

1. Teacher asks pupils the meaning of speed.

2. Teacher asks pupils the formula of speed.
3. Teacher asks pupils to write down (1) and (2)
in their notebooks.
