Important Note
As of December 5, 2011, there are no longer separate roll-ups for FactoryTalk View versions 5.0, 5.10,
6.0, 6.10 and 7.00. The information from these obsolete patch roll-up answers are attached to this
answer. The roll-up included in this answer includes patches for all these versions, see details below for
a complete listing of products.
Installing Roll-up on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008

To run the roll-up on these operating systems, you must first disable User Account Control (UAC).
1. In the Start menu under Search program and files type "UAC"
2. Press the Enter key or click the only search result under Control Panel.
3. Bring the slider all the way down to Never notify and reboot the PC.

Even though all patches are included in this roll-up, only patches that are actually required for an
installed product will be applied.
The roll-up uses specific checks to confirm which product is installed. The roll-up will only install patch
files provided these files already exist on the target computer, unless a new binary file is being
introduced as part of a patch.
Installation
Patch a distributed system in the following order:
1. Patch the client computer(s), and shut down (turned off).
2. Patch the FactoryTalk View SE server(s), and shut down.
3. Patch the FactoryTalk Directory computer and restart.
4. Restart the FactoryTalk View SE server computers.
5. Restart the client computers.
Patch Install
1. Follow the link to download and extract the latest patch roll-up. If you agree to the Software End-User
License Agreement, the latest version of the Rockwell Automation Download Manager will be installed
on your computer (if necessary), and the patch files will be automatically downloaded and extracted to
C:\Users\Public\Downloads\RA on Windows Vista, 7 and 2008 or to C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\RA on Windows XP and 2003.
These are default locations that can be changed anytime during the download
The Download Manager will give the user a link to take them directly to the download folder
when the download is complete.
2. Shut down all Rockwell Software applications on the local computer (for example, SE Client, FactoryTalk
View Studio, FactoryTalk Admin Console, etc).
3. Restart the target computer.
On a Server: Do not open any of the Rockwell Software programs. Auto-start services (for
example, HMI servers, Data servers, etc) will be-stopped during the patch install.
On a Client: If FactoryTalk View SE Client is set to auto-start, ensure that it is shut down now.
4. !!! This install will stop all Rockwell services on the local computer !!!
5. Do one of the following:
Double-click on InstallAllPatches.bat.
Or
Right-click on the file and select Open.
For example, C:\Users\Public\Downloads\RA\FT View-Patches\InstallAllPatches.bat.
A command prompt window will appear and begin installing the patches.
6. The Patch File Validator will run automatically at the end, to validate that all patches were installed
correctly.
7. Restart the computer to complete the patch update.
Functionality
1. Should only be applied to English language products
2. Automatically determines correct install path by reading registry keys.
3. Stops/starts processes only once (unless a specific patch requires services to complete the install process).
4. Automatically generates a complete install status log file to assist in install
troubleshooting. PatchInstall_<Machinename>.Log)
5. Includes an option for a silent install using the /s parameter. For example:
Start-->Run "<Drive:><Path> InstallAllPatches.bat" /s
6. Writes to the Windows Application Log that the roll-up of a given date was installed.
7. Includes a RemoveAllPatches.bat which will roll-back a PC to an unpatched state.
8. Only installs the patches for the product versions that are installed on the computer.
9. Copies the Install log and Patch Validation log to C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Rockwell\Install logs
10.
Write the roll-up version to the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Rockwell
