figuredIwouldcapturethesetupaswellaspointoutsomethingstowatchfor.
SAPConnectcanbeconfiguredforanumberofdifferentmessagerelayingpurposes.Thisblog
postwillonlycoversendingEmailfromSAPexternally.
Somebasicrequirementsandpoints:
SAPConnectconfigurationisclientdependent.Ithastobeconfiguredineachclientwhereyouwanttouseit.
SAPConnectrequiresanexternalSMTPservertosendemails.
SAPConnectneedstobeauthorizedtousetheSMTPservertosendemails.

SMTPServerDetails
Letsstartwiththemostimportantpieceofthepuzzle.Ifyoudontgetthispartright,your
configurationwillnotwork.YouneedanexternalSMTPservertorelayyouroutboundemail
messages.MostcompaniesrunningSAPwillhaveatleastoneSMTPserver.Itisalsopossible
youmighthaveseveraltochoosefrom.So,youneedtoidentifytheappropriateSMTPserver.
YouwillneedtoknowtheSMTPserverHostNameaswellasthePort.ThedefaultPortfor
SMTPis25,butyouradministratorhastheoptiontochangethis.Makesureyouconfirmthe
correctportnumber.
IdentifyingyourSMTPserveristhefirstpieceofthepuzzle.Thenextpieceistorequest
permissiontouseit.MostcorporateSMTPserversareprotectedtheyonlyallowtrustedservers
/authenticateduserstousethem.Youwillmostlikelyneedtocontactyouremailsystems
administratortorequestauthorizationforyourSAPservers.IfyouwillbeusingSAPConnectin
yourDevelopment,Test,andProductionenvironments,itisagoodideatorequestallofthemat

officetoensureexternalemailpoliciesarebeingadheredtoinproductivesystems.
Additionally,youmayalsowanttorestrictcertainroutesinTestandDevsystemssoyourtesting
doesnotgenerateemailstoexternalbusinesspartners.
