Course Synopsis This course covers basic concepts of information retrieval, IR models,
query languages, Web retrieval, retrieval utilities, output presentation,
multimedia information retrieval, evaluation of an IR system, performance
measures, and retrieval of Quranic texts.

Course The objectives of this course are to:

1. introduce students to the concepts of IR
2. enable students understand and apply the retrieval strategies and
utilities offered by commercial IR systems and those for Quranic
texts
3. enable students work as a team to identify and apply the
performance measures for evaluating an IR system, in the form of
written and oral reports

Learning Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
