Thisiswhatmostmusicstudiosgenerallylooklike.Theyllhavea
mixtureofdifferentmusicequipmentinthestudio.Theywillnormally
containspeakers,monitors,midikeyboards,microphones,mixing
consolesandamultitrackrecorderetc.
Equipmentinthestudio
Everydifferentpieceofequipmentinthestudioservesadifferent
purposebuttheyallareneededtogethertohaveafullyfunctioning
studio.Herearethepurposesofeachpieceofequipment.
Monitors:Monitorsarebasicallypcscreens.Obviouslyyouneed
thesetoviewwhatyouaredoing.Studioswilloftenhavemore
thanonemonitorforyourproducingprogrammeononemonitor,
YouTubeoranotherprogrammeontheother;italsoallowsthe
producertovieweachslideronawiderscreenforeasyaccessto
changesomethingifitspeakingtohigh.
Mainspeakers/Loudspeaker:Loudspeakersarewhattheysaythey
aretheyareloudspeakerswithbigfrequencies,theseareusedto
hear your musicplayed loudly,things likebass comeoutmore
whenhearonloudspeakers.
Monitorspeakersaresmallerspeakersthataresometimesmore
crisp and better quality, these are vital to hear small sounds or
whenyourmusicsplayingatsmallfrequencies.
MIDI MIDIs are Musical Instrument Digital Interfaces ,
basicallyelectricalinstrumentsthatareconnectedtoapcorMacof
some sort which then plays in the signals onto your producing
software.MIDIscomeinallshapesandsizesbecauseyoucanget
MIDIkeyboards,MIDIGuitars,andalltypesofotherMIDIinputs.
MIDIsarevitalbecauseitallowspeoplewhoarenotverygoodat
playinganinstrumenttoplaysomethingineasilyandtheneditit,
eqitandhaveaprofessionalsoundinginstrumentriffplayedin.
Microphones:Microphonesarentoftenintheactualstudiobutin
the booth part of the studio. This is because a booth will be
specifically made soundproof so that when recording no
backgroundnoisewillbeheard.Sometimestherewillbemicsin
theactualstudiobecausetheyresoundproofthemselvesandthere
may be no background noise anyway. Mics are used to record
people singing or rapping which will be transferred into the

producingsoftware.Micswillalsobeusedtorecorddrumkits.
Thedrumkitswilloftenbeinadifferentroombecausetheyare
large and need space. Each drum on the drum kit requires a
differentmicforthebestqualitysound.Sometimeswhenrecording
adrumkittherellberoommictopickupagreaterandwider
soundfromthedrumkit.
Mixingconsole:Mixingconsoleswillbefoundinprettymuch
everyrecordingstudio.Theyarelikethedeskofthestudiowithall
thesliders.Theslidersareusedtomixandeditthelevelsofsignal
eachtrackinyourmixismaking.Thesearevitalbecausewhen
over viewing your whole track the sliders can be used to stop
thingspeakingtohighandthereforegivingyouabetteroverall
soundqualitytoyourtrack.
Multitrack recording Multitrack recording isnt a piece of
equipmentbutatypeofrecordingthatallowsyoutorecordmore
thanonethingintovariouschannelsinyourmix.Thismakesthe
wholeproducingprocessmucheasierthandoingoneinstrumentat
atimeandputtingthemalltogetherattheendratherthanduring
theprocess.

Dynamic micas used on the other drums are faced towards the
centreofthedrumtogetanaccuraterecordingofthem.
Signalfromthedrumkittothestudio/Logic.
Eachmicispluggedintoaninputwhichisrepresentedinthe
studioinlogic.Thestudiocontains2soundcards,thefirst
soundcardhasinput18andthesecondinputhas1118.Theseare
representedinlogicbylabellingeachtrackaninput.youdothisby
selectingatrackandthenselectingitsinputfromthebottomleft
cornerinputbox.Whendonecorrectlyand'record'selectedwhen
playedthedrumswillberecordedintologic.
