Procedure to change visa 18 to 22

Procedure to change wifes visa from 18 to 22

(I live in Abbasiya..So all procedures to be done through Farwaniya Governorate
offices)
Documents required
1. Original passport of wife, copy of front and back page, which clearly shows
husbands name endorsed in wifes passport, or vice versa, copy of her current visa
2. Original Civil id of wife, plus its copy
3. Typed form duly filled in and signed by you (which can be prepared by any typing
center in Abbasiya). Submit it to the HRD where your wife worked, to get it counter
signed by their kafeel.
4. Your wifes edinamel (Salary paper from shoon)
5. Your wifes companys Etimatil towkiya. (Paper showing the signatures of the
owner/kafeel of the company)
6. Your passport copy, front page, back page and residence page
7. Your edinamel (Salary paper from shoon). Your salary should be more than KD
250/-

******* make sure that your salary and name is already entered into the respective
jawazat computer (Mine was in shuwaikh jawazat).

Actually that should be done within a few days of you joining any company. Once
they stamp your job visa, this process should be automatically done. But in my
case, they did something wrong, and my salary and name was not in the computer.
For that I had to take my original edinamel, and go to the respective shoon dept and
make them enter my details into their computer.

8. Your building contract paper (copy is enough)

9. Rent receipts (Copy is enough)
10. Your marriage affidavit original and copy (They insist on getting the latest, not
older than 6 months from the embassy, duly stamped by the foreign ministry in
Kuwait)
Procedure to get marriage certificate Charge KD 6.250(Six dinars 250 fils)

a.If your wife has her name in your passport or your name in her passport, then
things are easy. Go to the embassy, type the form, submit copies of your passportfront page and back page, copies of your wifes passport front and back pages along
with original passports of both.
b. They will give you the affidavit normally within an hour.
c. If neither of your names is in each others passport, then I believe that the
procedure is a long one. May be the embassy personnel can help you on giving the
proper guidelines.

11. In case your wife has not changed her maiden name, then better have the
original marriage certificate from India. (They dont care if it is from the church, or
municipality etc..)

***** make sure you have lots of copies of everything mentioned above, as these
guys in the jawazat have a habit of losing the papers, or demanding more copies
even if they have one ****

Procedure
The company mandoop (is a must) took me and my wife (both should be present) to
the farwaniya shoon, met a Kuwaiti mudeer, mandoop pointed to me and my wife,
and later after going to two or three counters, said that he had electronically
requested that my wifes visa be changed to mine. They said after 3 hours go to the
farwaniya jawazat and check.
Next day I took the mandoop again to the farwaniya jawazat. They checked my
papers and asked me to get the signature from the Kuwaiti mudeer. Once he signed,
I submitted the documents to the lady sitting at the counter; they took all the
papers, and asked me to come the next day. Next day I went and they gave me a
paper called the Lamana. Please take your time to check each and every paper
they return, as for my case, they returned the correct lamana paper, but the
supporting documents was that of some other woman. (Dont get upset if they say
any objection to the papers you are holding. They can reject any thing any time
they wantkeep your cool. Cz you may be in for greater difficulties). Once you get
the lamana, take the mandoop again, this time to the Farwaniya shoon. The
mandoop should have with him all the relevant typed forms, with the signature of
the kafeel ready.
(This is the same form which you had typed and submitted to the HRD where your
wife had worked earlier mentioned as item no3). There, after getting a signature
from a Kuwaiti (of which my mandoop had no idea of, he had to ask at least 10
persons to find out), and with all the relevant copies and originals

a. Your passport copies (front page, back page and residence page)
b. Your wifes passport copies (Same as above)
c. Your Edinamel copy
d. The original Lamana (Make sure you have many copies of the Lamana, before and
after the Kuwaiti signs on the Lamana)
e. Your wifes original passport
f. Copies of you and your wifes civil id.
Submit it to a small office in the top floor. She takes the original lamana and will
give you a copy of the same. Then submit it to the counter 12 in the ground floor
keep a one dinar stamp ready. There is a lady there. She might want to see you - to
make sure that you are the husband. She will enter a few things to the computer,
Once that is done, you no longer need the mandoop. (Take multiple copies of that
too..your mandoop will ask for one copy).

Now the procedure is simple. Take the insurance, (41 KD). Next go to the Farwaniya
jawazat, as soon as you enter, there is an office for Civil Id information. Show your
documents there, give your wifes civil id, they will punch a hole in it, cancel the
civil id, and put a seal on the document which you gave. (Make sure you give your
wifes civil id only, because, the guy who sits there, wont even look at the civil id.
So if accidently you give your civil id, he will cancel it also. So be careful).

Next take the token, wait for your turn to inspect the documents, once they pass it,
go inside, take the next token, and to your left, there is a counter where three or
four ladies are sitting. Show your papers, and tell them, that you need to change
the visa from 18 to 22. They will give you a paper, go to the next window, give 100
KD, and get receipt.
(No need to take the 10 KD stamp from the machine). Wait for your turn. Once your
number comes up, they will stamp visa no 22 in the wifes passport. Make sure, they
put a cancel seal on the previous job visa (visa no 18). And DONE Make sure the
passport numbers match in the newly stamped visa. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!
