and painting. Another big

aspect as to why she did
pursue art was because of
her parents. They were always so encouraging and
knew she was very talented
and artistic. Once in school,
she couldnt be more eager
to take more art classes and
learn the art, and from there
on she knew that was what
she wanted to do with her
life. Art teacher Kurt Sloop
said, As a ceramics and pottery expert, she is a welcome
addition since my specialty
is drawing and painting, so
I am getting to learn from
her as well as the kids.
Now that she is student
teacher, I had to ask what
she really liked about the
job. Brianna answered that
she loves teaching kids
about her passion and loves
the feeling of community
and working with the faculty. Getting more specific, I
asked her what her favorite
thing to teach was and she
just smiled and said ceramics. Also, along with ceramics, she also enjoys teaching
the history of art and showing kids the importance of
art. For any job there is always something you might
want to change, for her it
would be the fact that she
not always a morning person and neither are the kids
so that makes it tough having them interact and keeping them productive.
After she is done being
a student teacher at Tarkio
High School, she plans on
working as a high school art
teacher in a town that is not
too small, but close enough to
a bigger city so she can take
kids to art museums. So now
that you know a little about
Mrs. Cochran, dont be shy.
Come out and say hello.

The amazing Joseph Brandenburg

By Kat DeRosier
For the past two years
there has been this unique,
booming voice heard around
the school. If the senior class
is ever asked who is the happiest, kindest senior, the answer will always be Joe! It
is never a dull day with Joe
around and you can always
count on sharing a good
laugh. In this year alone,
Joe has really come out of
his shell and has shown
everyone how awesome he
truly is.
Joe Brandenburg is the
son of Franz and Marilyn Brandenburg. Franz is
Reverend at St. Johns Lutheran Church and Marilyn
is a teacher in the specialeducation department at
Tarkio Elementary. Joe has
one sister, Hannah, who is a
student at the University of
Missouri-Columbia. Joe and
his family moved to Tarkio
from Michigan last year and
when he thinks back to his
childhood he will always remember his time spent at
Lions Beach on Lake Michigan.

Even though Joe hasnt

been here for very long, he
has done quite a lot. This
year he was really known
for his amazing transformation on the football team.
He was also a part of Musical Theater as Mr. Trevor
Graydon. Joe has been in
the high school choir for two
years and church choir. Last
spring, Joe was a golfer and
this spring he is testing out
his swing as a baseball player. He has also been a member of FCCLA.
Joe also has some working experience as a farm
hand where the work, as
he informed me, is pretty
tough. When Joe has some
relaxation time he likes to
play video games, but he informed us that he gave that
up for Lent. Instead of video
games he has gone to drawing for the time being. Joe
also loves to fish and swim.
He says he is like a manatee in the water, Im not
fast, but I love it! When he
sits down to watch TV, you
can bet he is watching The
Walking Dead, SpongeBob,

the documentary category.

You dont have to go far to find a Super Hero. Mine are

all around me. Thank you to Scott Jones, Denton Melvin,
Trent Shineman, Quint Lingerfelt, Corey Jones, Mark
Bennington, Steve Shineman, and Chad Ottmann. To
all the EMT professionals, dispatchers, hospital staff,
and every single friend, family member, and prayer warrior who played a part in my safety and recovery, thank
you so very, very much! I am grateful for all your care
and concern and will forever hold you in my heart.
With love,
Tawni Martin & Family

or his favorite movie, Disneys Hercules. When asked

about music, Joe said he literally loves everything! He
did, however, show a greater
interest in 40s music, piano,
and the Inkspots. Joe also
loves all food, but with further questioning we found
that he loves beef and more
beef and also raspberries.
During long school days,
Joe always looks forward
to his English classes, but
when asked about what he
likes to read, he had a tough
time. After some time, he
answered the Hobbit and
explained that he also does
a lot of reading in video
games. Joe also loves Christmas time!
Throughout Joes time at
Tarkio High School he has
made many memories. The
one thing that he will always remember is football
practices and musical theater. Along with the good
memories, he also has some
embarrassing ones. When
asked what his most embarrassing moment was he
said, I dont know, theres
one every day! He did narrow it down to never knowing anything about sports.
After high school, Joe
plans on attending Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, but is undecided on a major. Tarkio
will miss his booming voice
and warm smile, but it is
now time for Joe to share his
kind heart and good sense of
humor with others in this
big world!
