Intern: Energy Efficiency

Location: Bangalore
Reporting to: Senior Associate, Governance
Time period: 12-15 weeks (starting immediately)
Scope of Work:
EGI is working towards improving the governance of energy efficiency policies and programs in India, with
a strong focus on appliance efficiency, so as to increase the uptake of energy efficiency technologies and
products.

Tasks Expected to be Performed by the Intern and Deliverables:


The internship will be research focussed. The intern will be expected to develop a program document for
implementation of a pilot energy efficiency program in Bangalore/BESCOM supply area.

Preferred profile:
a) Education
Masters in Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science, Regulatory Governance, Economics, Energy
Policy, Public Policy, International Development, or related field.
b) Technical skillset required:
Familiarity with energy planning software/tools
c) Soft skillset required:
i. Excellent research and writing skills in English
ii. Some knowledge of energy, development and environmental issues
iii. Demonstrated interest in electricity and/or governance issues
iv. Strong computer skills - (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc)
v. Attention to detail, be highly organized, and be able to work in a team and independently
vi. Ability to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary setting.
vii. Knowledge of a second language desired

*The Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai runs a two-year MA/MSc program on Regulatory Governance.
This multi-disciplinary program seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of contemporary regulation
theory and emerging regulatory practice models, and develop socially responsible and environmentally
conscious professionals in the emerging field of regulatory governance. Prayas, Pune (an EGI partner) provides
support to this program. One area of focus under this program is electricity governance. Strong preference will
be given to students of this program.
