The function of teaching development domain is to analyse learning and design problems,
implement and evaluate solutions to these problems. The function of learning resources is
to find the solutions to the problem and the function of teaching management is to
supervise and control the development of learning resources.

Chart 1.2
The design domain cover four main areas; instructional systems design, message design,
instructional strategies and pupil characteristics. Instructional system design;
organised or systematic procedures for analysing, designing, building, implementing and
evaluating instructional materials, an educational unit, a course or a curriculum. Message
design; determine the manner and media format in order to deliver messages to the
students affectively. Instructional strategy; involve the process of selecting and
organising learning activities that suited in order to reinforce in learning process. Pupil
characteristics; determine the students skill, knowledge and attitudes that effect the
learning process. Development domain involves the process of translating the design
specification. Use domain is the act of suing methods and instructional models, materials,
and media tools and environment to enhance learning process. Management domain
involves the control of the instructional technology through planning, organisation,
coordination, and supervision of the resource centre of technology education so that
teaching and learning will be more organised and effective. Evaluation domain involves
in evaluating the suitability and effectiveness of teaching and learning, student
achievement assessment, the use of media, materials and programs. Four categories of
evaluation are problem analysis, evaluation criteria, formative and summative assessment.
The importance of educational technology are to promote positive learning environment,
changes in decision-making level, changes in system or changes in the approach to
teaching and changes in learning experience.
6. How is technology used for learning?
Technology is used for learning in three stages:
i. Before use planning time and manner relate to the topic being taught
ii. During use planning reviews and emphasising the important aspects that will
accelerate the process if learning
iii. After use planning further activities / enrichment and reinforcement
7.
a. What is the role of educational technology in teaching and learning?
The role of educational technology in teaching and learning is to help the teacher to
teach the students and make learning more affective and systematic. Besides that,
educational technology can save teachers time; help teachers in choosing media
sources that are suitable with the students and are able to be used in the classroom.
Teachers also have various methods of teaching and learning techniques; groups or
individual work, cooperative learning, and able to provide meaningful learning
experience to the students.
b. How does the impact of educational technology in teaching and learning process.
The impact of educational technology in teaching and learning process could be
observed in the changes of decision-making level, changes in the system or in the
approaches to teaching and changes in learning experience.
