Schedules and Rules & Regulations


General Rules and Regulations
1. Participants are required to bring their student ID at all times.
2. The registration will be open 30 minutes before the event starts.
3. Participants need to register themselves at the registration booth before the the event
starts.
4. The time of organiser is the official event time.
5. Players are not allowed to wear accessories, e.g. watch, earrings while playing the game.
6. Every team leader has to submit a list of line-ups for each game to be played. The lineups are final and changes cannot be made after that.
7. Only those who in the line-up list need to attend the particular day they are involved.
Team mates are highly encouraged to attend to support their team members.
8. Players are required to cut their nails before the event, referee has the right to disallow a
player to play if he or she fails the nail inspection.
9. Announcer will announce the next game after a match finishes, and the teams involved
need to present to the court 2 minutes before the match along with student ID.
10. If a team does not present themselves after the designated game time, referee has the final
decision to disqualify the team.
11. Referees decision is final.
12. This sports carnival will be played on the basis of cumulative points, with the team with
highest cumulative points after 4 sports games will be the champion.

13. The organiser will not held responsible in any loss of belongings.

Badminton: Rules and Regulations


General Rule

Each player is allowed to participate in one category only in a match.

Total will have 3 males and 3 females players, they can switch among each other for
playing 3 different categories which is mens doubles, womens doubles and mixed
doubles.

Organiser will provide a form for the teams to write down the line-up for next match and
need to be submitted to the assistant referee 2 mins before match starts.

If the player is injured in the game and could not continue to play, then he/she shall
forfeit the game.

The umpires decision is the final decision.

Scoring System

For the preliminary rounds, every match consists of the best of 2 games of 11 points.

If each side wins a game, then the third game of 11 points is required.

At 10 all, the side which gains a 2 point lead first wins that game.

At 19 all, the side scoring the 20th point wins that game.

For these knock-out preliminary rounds, each teams womens doubles would start first
followed by mens doubles and lastly, mix doubles.

The team which loses mens doubles and womens doubles will be eliminated
immediately. The team who wins mens doubles and womens doubles will enter into the
next round.

If a team wins either mens doubles or womens doubles and loses either mens or
womens doubles, then the team who wins mixed doubles will be qualified into the next
round.

For the round robin, every match consists of 2 games of 21 points.

If each side wins a game, then the third game of 21 points is required.

At 20 all, the side which gains a 2 point lead first wins that game.

At 29 all, the side scoring the 30th point wins that game.

Every time there is a serve, there is a point scored.

The side winning a rally adds a point to its score.

The side winning a game serves first in the next game.

For the round robin, the teams will play all 3 categories including mix doubles. The team
who wins all categories will be entitled 3 points. The team who wins 2 categories and
lose 1 category will be entitled to 2 points. The team who wins 1 category and lost 2
categories will be entitled to 1 point while the team who lost all 3 categories will not be
entitled to any points. The team with the highest point will win.

Interval and Change of ends

A 1 minute interval between each game is allowed.

Players change ends after each game.

For the 3rd game in the preliminary rounds, at the 5 th point, the players change ends. For
the 3rd game during the round robin, at the 11th point, both players change ends. At the 5th
and 11th point, a 1 minute interval is allowed.

Doubles

A side has only one service.

At the beginning of the game and when the score is even, the server serves from the right
service court. When it is odd, the server serves from the left court.

If the serving side wins a rally, the serving side scores a point and the same server serves
again from the alternate service court.

If the receiving side wins a rally, the receiving side scores a point. The receiving side
becomes the new serving side.

The players do not change their respective service courts until they win a point when
their side is serving.

If players commit an error in the service court, the error is corrected when the mistake is
discovered.

Futsal: Rules and Regulations


Description
This activity will be conducted at the futsal court, UCSI University, North Wing. A team
consisting of 5 main players and 2 substitutes are allowed. 16 teams will be grouped into 4 main
groups, namely A, B, C, and D, with each group consisting of 4 teams. Each team will play
against with another team from same group and the winner of each match will proceed to
quarter-final. Proposed time per game is 10 minutes, no break in between. If there is a tie for
group stage matches, extra time with interval of 30 seconds is allocated for the match until there
is a difference in the goal scores for two minutes. After two minutes, if there is still a tie, this will
result in a tie game.
For final, the proposed time per game is 15 minutes, no break in between as well. If there
is tie for quarter-final, semi-final and final matches, penalties shootout will be carried out to
determine the winner. Substitution method used is "flying substitution" in which the substitutions
for players except goalkeeper can enter and leave as they please during a match. Goalkeeper
substitutions can only be made when the ball is out of play and with referee's consent.
Rules and Regulations
Players' Equipment
Sport shirts, shorts, socks, protective shin guards and footwear with rubber soles.
The Start of Play Procedure
Coin toss followed by kickoff. Opposing team waits outside centre circle and ball is deemed in
play once it has travelled the distance of its own circumference. Kicker shall not touch the ball
before someone else touches it.

Ball In And Out Of Play


1.

Ball out of play: When the ball has wholly crossed the goal line or
touchline, when the game has been stopped by a referee and when the ball hits the ceiling.

2.

(Restart by dropping ball beneath that point.)


Lines: Touchlines and goal lines are considered to be inside the
playing area.

3.

During a play, goalkeeper cannot pick up the ball while receiving


back pass.

Penalty cards
Yellow card:
1. Yellow card indicates a player has been officially cautioned. The player's details will be
recorded down by referee, hence a caution is also known as a "booking".
2. A player who has been cautioned may continue playing in the game. However, if he receives a
second caution in a match, he will be sent off (shown the yellow card again, and then a red card).
Red card:
1. Indicates a player has been sent off.
2. player must then leave the field immediately and take no further part in the game.
3. He may not be replaced by a substitute which means his team must continue the game with
one player fewer.
4. If a goalkeeper receives a red card, another player will be allowed to assume the goalkeeping
duties.
5. Red card will be shown to player who has committed a serious offence as well.
Method of Scoring
When the ball has passed the goal line, between the goal posts and under the crossbar (except by
illegal means).
Winning team - 3 points
Drawing team - 1 point
Losing team - 0 point
Foul and Misconduct

Direct free kick awarded when a player commits any of the following offenses (penalty kick
awarded when infringement takes place in penalty area):
1. Kicking or attempting to kick an opponent
2. Tripping an opponent
3. Jumping at an opponent
4. Charging an opponent in a violent or dangerous manner
5. Charging an opponent from behind
6. Holding an opponent
7. Pushing an opponent
8. Charging an opponent with shoulder (e.g. shoulder charge)
9. Sliding at an opponent (e.g. sliding tackle)
10. Handling the ball (except goalkeeper)
Players Shall Be Sent Off For:

*The team at the 3rd placing will be the losing team of semi-final match with the highest point.
*All group stage, quarter-final and semi-final matches proposed timing is 10 minutes for game
play, with 5 minutes gap for switching of the next game.
* For champion play-off, the match proposed timing is 15 minutes for game play.

Basketball: Rules and Regulations


Description
The venue for this event will be in MPH, Block A, 4 th floor, UCSI University, South
Wing. This is a 3 on 3 half-court basketball tournament where the matches will be conducted in
round robin system in the preliminary stages. Beginning from the quarter final, the knock-out
system will be implemented. Each match will consume half size of a basketball court with one
basket. Marks will be awarded for every shooting according to the basketball marking system.
The match ends either when game time limit is up or when either one of the team reaches 21
points. A 5 on 5 full court match will be held for semifinalists and finalists.
Rules and Regulation
1. The referees decision for all matters in this game is final.
Court Dimensions
1. Half court match utilises half of the court.
2. Full court match utilises the entire court.
Players and substitutes
1. Each team shall consist of 7 players with 3 active players for a 3-on-3 game and 5 players for
a 5-on-5 game. The remaining players will act as the substitutes.
2. Player substitution can only be made when the ball is dead.
3. No protective cast and/or jewellery (rings, watches, and chain necklace) shall be worn.
4. Proper attire. No sandals, slippers.
5. Play at your own risk.
Scoring and timing
A) Section I-Scoring
1. Appropriate point will be scored when a ball from the playing area passes through or remains
in the net.
2. A successful free throw attempt shall count one point.
Half court
3. A successful field goal attempt from inside the arc shall be awarded one (1) point.
4. A successful field goal attempt from the area outside the arc shall be awarded two (2) points.

5. An unsuccessful free throw attempt which is tapped into the basket shall count two (2) points
and shall be credited to the player who tapped the ball in.
Full court
6. A successful field goal attempt from inside the arc shall be awarded one (2) points.
7. A successful field goal attempt from the area outside the arc shall be awarded two (3) points.
8. An unsuccessful free throw attempt which is tapped into the basket shall count two (2) points
and shall be credited to the player who tapped the ball in.
B) Section II-Timing
Half court
1. The games last for 5 minutes for the first round and 10 minutes for the quarter finals, with an
interval of 5 minutes between them.
2. A coin flip before the start of the game will determine who gets the ball out-of-bounds first.
Full court
3. The games will consist of two quarters of 10 minutes each, with a 5-minute break at halftime.
4. There is also a five-minute interval between matches.
5. Each game begins with a jump ball or tip-off.
C) Section III-End of Period
1. Each period ends when the time expires.
2. EXCEPTIONS: If a live ball is in flight, the period ends when the goal is made, missed or
touched by an offensive player.
3. If the official's whistle sounds prior to the horn or at 00.0 on the clock, the period is not over
and time must be added to the clock.
4. If the timeout request is made at approximately the instant time expires for a period, the
period ends and the timeout shall not be granted.
5. If the ball is dead and the game clock shows at 00.0, the period has ended even though the
horn may not have sounded.
D) Section IV-Stoppage of Timing Devices
1. The timing devices shall be stopped whenever the official's whistle sounds indicating one of
the following:

2. A personal or technical foul.


3. A jump ball.
4. A floor violation.
5. An unusual delay.
6. A suspension-of-play for any other emergency (no substitutions are permitted.)
7. A regular or 20-second timeout.
E) Section V-Timeout
1. A player's request for a timeout shall be granted only when the ball is dead or in control of
the team making the request. A request at any other time shall be ignored.
2. Each team is entitled to one (1) 20-second timeout per half for a total of two (2) per game,
including overtimes.
3. During a 20-second timeout a team may only substitute for one player. If the team calling the
20-second timeout replaces a player, the opposing team may also replace one player.
F) Section VI-Time-In
1. After time has been out, the game clock shall be started when the ball is legally touched by
any player within the playing area of the court.
2. On a free throw that is unsuccessful and the ball continues in play, the game clock shall be
started when the missed free throw is legally touched by any player.
3. If play is resumed by a throw-in from out-of-bounds, the game clock shall be started when
the ball is legally touched by any player within the playing area of the court.
G) Section VII-Overtime
1. If the match ends in a tie, an additional period of time will be given whereby 3 chances are
given to 3 different players of each team to score free throws. The team that manages to score
the most free throws win.
Fouls
1. When a player commits personal or flagrant foul, the opposing team will be awarded 2 free
throws (full-court) or 1 free throw (half-court).
2. When technical fouls are committed, the opposing team will be awarded 3 free throws (fullcourt) or 2 free throws (half-court).

3. When 5 team fouls are committed, the opposing team will be awarded 3 free throws (fullcourt).
4. If a player commits more than 5 fouls, he/she will automatically be fouled out.

Captain Ball: Rules and Regulations


General
1.

This game will be conducted in MPH, Block A, 4th floor, UCSI University, South Wing.

2.

The game will be conducted in a round-robin format for preliminary round(4 teams in a
group competing with each other, 1st place and 2nd place will proceed to quarterfinals). From
quarterfinals to finals, knock out system will be conducted instead where the losing team will
be automatically eliminated.

3.

The game is played on a 6-a-side team, which means only 6 players are allowed to be on
court at any one time, there must be at least 2 females among the 6 players.

4.

Each team must have at least 4 female players. And each team is made up of 1 defender, 1
goalkeeper, 4 outfield players and 4 reserves. Rolling substitutions are allowed throughout
the game.

5.

Substitution is only allowed during half time, with the exception of injury and a red card
received during the match.

6.

The winnings placement is determined in the following priority number of wins, goal
differences and total number of goals scored.

7.

Duration for each game will be 2 half-time of 7 minutes each, with one minute break in
between. Whereas for finals, the duration of the game is 2 half-time of 10 minutes each, with
two minutes break in between.

8.

Every team must report to the announcement table 15 minutes before the event. Teams
that fail to do so will be immediately disqualified.

9.

No vulgarities are allowed at any time during match time. Referees decisions are final
and no players are to object to it, otherwise immediately disqualified.

10.

When a female player scores, it will be counted as 2 points, while when a male player
scores, it will be 1 point for the team.

11.

In the event of tie, there will be a penalty shootout.

Match rules
1.

Catcher must hold on to the ball with BOTH his/her hands while remaining on the stool
only then points will be awarded.

2.

Catcher can throw ball back into play if unable to hold on.

3.

Goalkeeper only allowed to defend the catcher.

4.

Attackers are not allowed to go into opposition defender's box. The opposing team is
given the ball if infringement is made.

5.

Attacking team is not allowed to go behind the stool's line to score.

6.

Free throw from the point where the ball is out.

7.

Points will be awarded to team for every goal scored (Catcher MUST catch the ball
while standing on the chair before it is recognized as a goal).

8.

Defender not allowed to push the catcher. A penalty will be awarded.

9.

After scoring, the first inbound throw cannot exceed half court.

Fouls
1.

No player is allowed to jump from the back line to defend the catcher.

2.

Defender hit the shooter's hand.

3.

No body contact at all times.

4.

Rough play.

5.

Verbal abuse.

6.

Team will be penalize when it accumulate 4 fouls. A penalty is awarded against the team.

7.

Penalty is a backward throw without defender, only one point is awarded regardless of
gender.

8.

No walking with ball. Allow to take one step after catching the ball. Only one pivoting.

9.

No travelling, no obstruction, no charging, no bouncing to ownself , no kicking, no


spiking is allowed.

Player Penalties Warnings


1.

The Referee has sole discretion as to give a Warning to any player in regard to an
additional penalty for the above mentioned Fouls.

2.

The following offences warrant a Warning:

0. Unbecoming attitudes shown by players

i. Swearing or cursing without foul language which is an unbecoming attitude


ii. Foul language
iii. Rough play
iv. Throwing the ball at players to intentionally hurt them
v. Dangerous plays which might hurt players
