SeaDragon - 2300 TEU

Grontmijs new Sea Dragon container feeder design is a

newly developed design, which is aimed for worldwide
operation. The Sea Dragon is designed in close corporation
with experienced ship owners and class society Lloyds
Register.
Sea Dragon is designed according to the following design
philosophy:

High safety for crew, environment and cargo

Economic and efficient operation
Environment friendly
High maneuverability
High loading flexibility
Maintenance friendly
Crew comfort

As fuel accounts for the largest operating cost, the primary

design consideration is to have the lowest possible fuel consumption compared to other vessels in the same segment.

The overall lay-out is conventional, with the deckhouse aft

of the main engine. The hull, machinery and deckhouse
concepts have been optimized with respect to intake, fuel
consumption and flexibility, and with the largest possible
ability to incorporate features according to owner specifications.
During the design process for Sea Dragon, our designers
have especially considered the following features:

Compliance with all present and future rules and

regulations (additional container distance for easy
stevedore access)
Maximum cargo intake and high reefer capacity
High flexibility for different container sizes (High Cube,
Euro Containers, 45 and 48 containers)
Very low fuel consumption
Implementation of newest propulsion technology
Future prof the design for later regulation changes

The main engine is a new green type super long stroke lowspeed engine driving a very large fixed pitch propeller, which
in combination with an optimized hull form, gives the lowest
possible fuel consumption for a given speed.
The 2,300 TEU vessel got space for 6 tiers of containers below
deck. In order to save space and obtain a more stiff structure,
the engine room casing is integrated with the deckhouse.
Accommodation areas facing forward have been avoided,
in order to have unobstructed view.
The container and crane arrangement incorporates stackcells
above the engine room, ensuring a high stackload as well as
a high number of reefer units. The vessel is fitted with lashing
bridges ensuring high loading capability on deck.
In order to meet present and future emission restrictions,
the design has been prepared for easy retrofit of exhaust
scrubber or LNG fuel system, of any size.

The Sea Dragon design is also prepared for lengthening with

one 40 Bay which will increase container capacity to 2,590
TEU.
The vessel is fitted with bow thruster and flap rudder in order
to ensure high maneuverability and stern thruster is optional.
The Sea Dragon design concept is available in different sizes:

SEA DRAGON 1,300 (1,300 TEU)

SEA DRAGON 1,800 (1,800 TEU)
SEA DRAGON 2,100 (2,100 TEU)
SEA DRAGON 2,300 (2,300 TEU)
SEA DRAGON 2,600 (2,600 TEU)
