Juan Abad
-Juan Abad y Domingo (February 8, 1872 - December 24, 1932) was a Filipino printer
turned playwright and journalist whose main contribution to Filipino theater was his patriotic
plays: the zarzuela Ang Tanikalang Guinto (The Golden Chain), and Isang Punglo ng
Kaaway, the former which, caused his arrest and trial. Some authors credit Abad with the
introduction of symbolism to Tagalog drama,[1] a claim which is still to be proven; although he
may have been one of the first Tagalog dramatists to use symbolism in their plays.
2. Aloy Adlawan
-Aloy Adlawan (also credited as Alfred Aloysius L. Adlawan), a Chemical Engineer by
profession, is a multi-awarded Filipino filmmaker- writer, producer, director, composer. He
attended filmmaking courses at the Mowelfund Film Institute in the Philippines and the New
York Film Academy in New York City.
3. Jun Lana
-Jun Lana (born October 10, 1972), born as Rodolfo R. Lana, Jr., is
a Filipino playwright and two-time FAMAS award-winningscreenwriter. The winner of
11 Palanca Awards for Literature, he became the youngest member of the Palanca Hall of
Fame in 2006.
4. Adrian Cristobal
-Adrian E. Cristobal (February 20, 1932 December 22, 2007) was a Filipino writer who
frequently touched on political and historical themes. Perhaps best known to the public for
his "Breakfast Table" newspaper column, he was also a Palanca Award-winning playwright,
fictionist and essayist. He likewise held several positions in government during the
administration of President Ferdinand A. Marcos.
Upon his death from lung cancer on December 22, 2007, a Resolution was proposed in
the Philippine Senate citing Cristobal as "a prolific journalist, a political satirist, a historical writer and
lecturer, a well-respected columnist, a brilliant fictionist and essayist, a creative playwright, a literary
genius and a hardworking publisher.

5. Malou Jacob
-Jacob has been a resident playwright of PETA. She finished Bachelor of Arts in
Communication in Maryknoll College (now Miriam College). She continued her studies in the
field of TV production and Direction in City University of New York; and Film production
in New York University. She has written and directed a lot of dramas for television and
documentary films. Her works include Pagod na Ako, Irog, and a TV special about the
National Artist Amado V. Hernandez.
She has been a teacher in playwriting workshops of PETA-CITASA and has also been creative
consultant of Communication Foundation for Asia.
