Lance King: The Art of Learning
Awesome Brilliant Good fun, I learned a lot and I enjoyed it
He always wanted us to do our best He presented things in a way that we could understand
These comments are just a sample of the evaluative assessments from students at Warwick
Academy after their workshop with Lance King. These are heartfelt, and were enhanced and reinforced
by the smiles, interest and genuine enjoyment I saw while observing the students of my school working
with Mr. King. Warwick Academy is a private, co-educational, selective school in Bermuda catering to
students from the ages of five to eighteen and offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma in the final
two years of the secondary school.
This is the second time Mr. King has presented a series of workshops to students, staff, and
parents of Warwick Academy and this year he also presented a workshop to a specially invited audience
of educators. Mr. King runs a very professional organization where meticulous attention to detail and
advanced planning ensure the efficient delivery of his ideas and resources. We have already arranged for
him to return to Bermuda in February 2010 to continue his work.
Mr. King conducted full day workshops on effective examination preparation for our Year 11 and
Year 13 students about to sit external examinations. Mr. King presents the necessary skills required in a
practical hands-on way that allows the students to feel comfortable and to gain confidence. He
encourages resilience and self-motivation and presents his ideas with a sense of humour and enthusiasm
that shows he is really interested in and convincing about what he says. The students report that they feel
much better prepared for their examinations and the results last year would certainly suggest that Mr.
Kings work was a contributory factor.
The student workshops were reinforced by evening presentations to staff and parents not only on
the Art of Learning, but also teaching and living with gifted and talented students. These were
overwhelmingly successful and I have heard from both these groups of people that they are incorporating
his ideas in their day to day lesson and family planning.
Mr King is always totally professional and is very willing to speak on an individual or group
basis to any student, parent or teacher. I have been very impressed by what he has to offer and thoroughly
recommend his organization to other schools. At Warwick Academy the students will be benefiting from
Mr King and his Art of Learning programme for many years to come.
Yours faithfully,

Maggie McCorkell
Principal
