1. Feminism:
Feminism is deep rooted in history. Its sign began to appear when women started to
realize that their self shaped into movements at different times of history.
*World War I provided the natural harvesting grounds. When World War I
commenced, people reflected back on a caterpillar background of womans demand
for political, civil and economic rights. The eye openers were the right to own
property, higher education equality for women, employment equal pay and
guardianship. The enlightenment shape for these demands came way before 1914.
Regeneration of womans labour took place in war. World War I can be marked as a
watershed her consciousness in gender relations took place. The consistent
subordinate position of a woman in this selved as a catalyst to diverse movements
of feminism came to be known as three ways. The political mood of belligerent

their movements. The first even proper movement was the suffrage movement
which gave a right to vote. From here, the boiling water in the shape of feminism
cannot be capped. The suffrage movement chartered the dominant essentialist

expectation was nevertheless, that women would return to their homes eventually.
In World War II men leaving for war, resulted in a shift in which women were taking
their jobs. They were found as enthusiastic workers at clerical jobs, factories and
academics, womens confrontation with patriarchy came in the great Depression
period in which the male gender disregarded this shift. The suffrage movement
allowed women a right to vote. Still, long aged defiance was felt by men. A
Professor at the University of Pittsburg comments that
Thus first wave feminism shaped up under liberal, political and industrial society. It
projects early socialism feminists and liberal womens right in the late nineteenth
and twentieth century. It talks of freedom on equal terms. This wave empowered
societies of West and East in the twentieth century. Histriography on feminist
unfolds many types: liberal, ecofeminist, radical, Maxist/ socialist, care-focused,
multicultural/ global/ colonial psycho analytic. These in turn build up approaches,
perspectives and frameworks. These have set their bench marks on oppression of
women by patriarchy society. The agenda remained the same.
