Master Plan
A plan for a period of generally about 20 years prepared and approved after following the relevant legal
procedures, that source as an instrument to guide its sociocultural, economic and physical development through
judicious land use planning.

Accessibility in Peri urban areas


Accessibility is a relative quality accruing to a parcel of land by virtue of its relationship to a transportation
system operating at some specified level of service.
Peri-urban area is the transitional area of urban and rural having mixed character of these both. They are having
neither fully urban nor entirely rural character. Generally , it originates from outside the municipal limit and ends
to some extent in planning area of the city.

Peri urban- Amritsar
As per the Master Plan of Amritsar, area outside the municipal boundary and upto the proposed outer ring road is called
as urbanisable area i.e. Peri urban area of Amritsar.

Peri-Urban area = 51,426 ha.

Comments: Its a good plan in case of transportation as connectivity has improved.


All the proposals and their locations have been marked based on the transportation
linkages and proposed mass transport.

Education:
Two
colleges
proposed
1- Ring road meets with Ajnala
road instead of G.T road.
2- Along Batala road where
middle ring road meets with this
road. It will lead to development
along Batala road.
Commercial: Centers proposed
along ring roads i.e. in Manawala,
Verka and Iban kalan.
Recreation: Along two major
roads i.e. NH and city ring road,
provide accessibility to peri urban
area in SE direction.
Health
Facilities:

hospital along NH and Medium
ring road.
