Asianet the pioneer of popular wholly Malayalam TV is


general entertainment channel broadcasting in Malayalam
language the channel is part of Asianet Communications
Limited owned by STAR India started broadcasting in August 1993

Surya TV (part of Sun TV Network and transmits entertainment and


movie based programs. Surya TV was the second privately owned
television channel in Malayalam and the third to broadcast in the
language) in 1998.

Kairali TV started broadcasting in the year 2000 by Malayalam


Communications Limited People TV , the second channel which focuses on news and

"Asianet Global", The company was toying with the idea of a news
channel for a long time. It was with this intention that Asianet Global
was launched, however there were very few news-based programmes
which later gave way to film-based entertainment ones. Asianet
News (formerly Asianet Global) is a Malayalam news channel owned
by Jupiter Media and Entertainment Venture ( it is not a part of
the STAR India owned Asianet Communications Limited)

Jeevan TV is a news and entertainment Malayalam television


channel first aired its news and entertainment programs in the year
2002.

Indiavision was a Malayalam news channel owned by Associated


Broadcasting Company (TV9 Group) ,Indiavision Satellite
Communications launched Indiavision nder the on July 14, 2003.
Indiavision launched its second channel, YES Indiavision (Youth, Entertainment & Sports)
on February 14, 2007. due to management and staff issues channel stopped live news
bulletins early February and 31 march 2015 channel stopped airing.

Amrita TV launched in 2005 as a 24-hour Malayalam, general

entertainment & news satellite channel covering beside India, Asia, Middle
East, America, Australia and Europe.

Manorama News (also known as MM TV) , news channel owned and


operated by Malayala Manorama. was launched on August 17, 2006
.The channel was launched with the assistance of media consulting
company Mediaguru Consultants Pvt. Ltd.

Jaihind Television channel launched on August 17, 2007 promoted by the Congress party
with the support of few non-resident Indians and Bharat Broadcasting Network Limited.

Reporter TV is an Indian television news channel broadcasting in


Malayalam catering to the Malayalam speaking population in Kerala as
well as abroad. The channel is owned by Indo Asian News Channel Pvt
Limited was launched on May 13, 2011. During the time of launch
Reporter TV was the first HD news channel from South India.

Mathrubhumi News television news channel owned


byMathrubhumi daily the channel was launched on 23 January 2013

MediaOne TV , operated by Madhyamam Broadcasting Limited. The


company is owned by the Madhyamam Daily, though the channel was
licensed in September 2011 the official launching was done on 10
February 2013.

Kaumudy TV owned by the owners of the Malayalam daily


newspaper Kerala Kaumudi was officially launched on 5 May 2013
comprising news, talks, interviews and entertainment.

Various channels then started broadcasting including general entertainment


channels like Jeevan, Amrita, Jai Hind, Asianet plus, Kiran TV, Kairali We,
news channels like Indiavision, Asianet News,Reporter TV, Manorama
News, Kairali People, Mathrubhumi News, Media One TV and religious
channels like Shalom,PowerVision TV. The only government owned channel in
Malayalam is VICTERS Educational channel-Versatile ICT Enabled Resource
for Students which is working under IT@School Project of General Education
department, Kerala
