SHAPE YOUR FUTURE

CAPITAL ADVANTAGE

This is an exciting time for the accounting

profession as Canadas accounting professionals
(CAs, CGAs and CMAs) are coming together as
one strong, single profession under the banner
of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

Carleton University is located in Canadas

capital of Ottawa, which provides access to an
unparalleled international network of industry,
government departments, global enterprises,
NGOs, embassies and high commissions. Ottawa
is an established global technology centre with
a strong entrepreneurial culture. It is one of the
worlds top sites for research and development.
It is home to more than 1,900 knowledge-based
companies with over 75,000 employees.
MoneySense magazine has named Ottawa
as one of the best cities in Canada to live in.

Carletons Sprott School of Business is leading

the way with a Master of Accounting (MAcc),
a rigorous program that will provide a gateway
to a career as a professional accountant.
Students graduating from the MAcc will be
exempt from the CPA Canada Professional
Education Program (PEP) and will proceed
directly to the CPA Canada Common Final
Examination, which is the final step in
becoming a chartered professional accountant.
Delivered over 16 months, including two
summers of full-time study plus a 4-month
internship placement, the MAcc goes beyond
the requirements of CPA Canada, providing
you with all four competencies you need to
work in this field: assurance, tax, finance, and
performance management. You will also engage
in applied research that is not undertaken in
the CPAs Professional Education Program.
The MAcc will use an interesting blend of
videos and classroom time to explore theoretical
components and apply theoretical knowledge to
real life case scenarios.
The program capitalizes on the expertise of
accounting faculty within the Sprott School of
Business who are experts on the competencies
required by the accounting professional.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The program is designed to provide students
with direct access to the CPA Canada Common
Final Examination. The required internship
provides valuable professional experience.
Upon achieving the CPA designation, employment
opportunities are extensive.

The Sprott School of Business is

accredited by AACSB International
which is the hallmark of excellence
in business education and has been
earned by less than five per cent
of the worlds business programs.
