REFLECTION ON BENCHMARKING SCHOOL VISIT TO

SK SAUJANA IMPIAN, KAJANG, SELANGOR.

The implementation of Bina Insan Guru (BIG) is based on the
teaching to build the future generation, forming identity and role model to
the community, thus the teacher must be able to adapt to any situation
and be able to handle the challenges of globalization. Throughout the
activities, students can identify themselves and are able to apply the
knowledge and experiences towards self-development as a teacher. The
BIG program is expected to produce teachers who have the strength of
characters and high professional power and will always be prepared in
addition to be able to handle the challenges of education in the era of
globalization. The program aims to benchmark us to expose the true
nature of schooling in which the formation of the climate and culture of
work and effective school leadership will ensure the productivity of a
school as an educational institution.
For Semester 5, we are required to visit a school for Benchmark
Program or "Benchmarking". The school that we have chosen is SK
Saujana Impian which is located in Kajang, Selangor. This school has been
awarded as one of the High Performance schools in Malaysia. Our BIG
Program Phase 5 was attended by all the students of Cohort 3 TESL. This
visit was also accompanied by three lecturers, namely Madam Paramjiit,
Madam Woo and Madam Faridah.

begins

on

Wednesday,

1th

April

2015.

The

benchmarking was held and we were divided into several groups and each
group member is asked to find and study the topics that have been set.
After that, we are required to present the results and information about the
title that was given to another group. The first group has conducted the
first slot which is Leadership Characteristics. This slot focused on the
schools discipline system and the process of electing prefects. We were

enlightened on these aspects by the Head of Counselling Committee, Mr


Hakim.
When we arrived at SK Saujana Impian, we were greeted warmly by
the teachers. Next, we were taken to the meeting room which was very
comfortable for a briefing from the senior assistant 1. She has explained
about the history of the school, the facilities available in SK Saujana
Impian, achievement in academics and sports. SK Saujana Impian awarded
numerous awards at the state, national and international. It can show how
the teachers in this school work hard to bring honor to the school. The
mortgage, the provisions of which were obtained from the Ministry of
Education for RM 700, 000 was invested for the development of the
school, Alaf Baru classrooms and development of archery.
Finished briefing, we were treated to a little supper. Then, the school
has led our group to visit the school. Among the activities carried out in SK
Saujana Impian is observed in the vicinity of the school. We saw the
classrooms, Alaf Baru classrooms, library, a specific room of awards and
files that related to schools structure, the development of teachers and
students as well.
In my opinion, this visit is very important benchmark performed by
trainee teachers to be able to motivate and inspire us to seek knowledge
and experiences as much as possible before becoming a teacher so that
we are prepared to develop and improve the school's performance in the
future. In addition, this benchmarking school visit will inspire info and tips
to me about the management of the school to ensure that the school
continues to be on the top of education system. I was very impressed with
the commitment that the teachers shown because the firm rules will lead
this school to excel.
Overall, the objective BIG Phase 5 has been achieved. I hope this
program will be continued in the future.
