VIA EMAIL
Dear Mayor Sheehan:
I write to thank you for reconstituting Albanys Living Wage Compliance Committee. As you
know, this committee has been dormant for a long time and its revival is critical to the workers
the Living Wage Law impacts. It also helps ensure Albany is a leader in the ongoing fight for a
living wage.
Ordinance Number 6.11.15 was one route to breathe life into the compliance committee. Despite
the flawed legal logic of your veto, your decision to reconstitute achieves the same important
goal. I look forward to working with you, the Committee, and my colleagues on the Council to
continue advocating for policies that empower working families. A living wage is a critical part
of investing in human infrastructure.
People across New York State are voicing their support for raising the minimum wage to fifteen
dollars an hour. Albanys Living Wage Law, including the compliance committee, is an example
of progressive legislation that benefits the working class. But, the statute can only go so far.
Every day, workers throughout Albany are paid substandard wages. Uplifting our communities
includes doing all we can to make sure residents, no matter what their jobs are, can support
themselves and their families.

Given that, I hope you will join me in calling on the Governor and State Legislature to raise the
States minimum wage to fifteen dollars an hour.
Sincerely,

Judd W. Krasher
