The relevant points to the promotion of health that are found in SDGs
are:

At the global level:


a. End poverty everywhere
Reason: Poverty is the most global issue the world is facing nowadays.
Supporting people financially is a must for limiting poverty and hunger. As
discussed in the article Caring for Critically Ill Patients with Ebola Virus
Disease that Guinea was the first country to witness people with Ebola
virus and one of the major causes that Ebola virus hasnt been limited
are: the low national income, the baseline public health in Guinea and
their acute care resources are severely limited.
b. End hunger, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
c. As discussed in class maintaining sustainable agriculture promotes the
economic level of the country thus promoting health
d. Reduce inequality within and between countries
According to what has been discussed in class on the Hotel Rwanda
movie civil wars have occurred between Tutsis and Watutsis because one
group these 2 groups was richer than the other
Reason: According to what is discussed in class sustainable food systems and
having access to healthy food are elements that play a major role in health
promotion

e. Ensure availability and sustainable use of water and sanitation for all
Reason: According to the movie watched in class due to the fact that
some people didnt have access to clean water and was used as an
economic good that was sold at higher price than Coca-Cola thus some

people couldnt afford buying that water which should have been public
good and not economic.
f. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and
productive
employment and decent work for all
According for what is discussed in class due to the Syrians which are
occupying jobs in Lebanon Lebanese have lost their opportunity to
have a decent job in their own country which affected health promotion
negatively leading to the corruption of economic growth and thus
Lebanese immigrants increased.
g. Promote sustainable infrastructure and industrialization and foster
innovation
Reason: Within health promotion, infrastructure can be seen as the
foundation for the collective strengths we bring to a health promotion
strategy or intervention. Roads, water supplies and power lines, support
our economy which thus affects health promotion according to the article
Sustainable Development: Knowledge Platform.
h. Tackle climate change and its impacts

Reason: Cimate system should be protected for the benefit of present
and future generations of humankind for the sake of their health
promotion on the basis of equity and in accordance with their common
but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities. It noted
with grave concern the significant gap between the aggregate effect of
mitigation pledges by parties in terms of global annual emissions of
greenhouse gases by 2020 and aggregate emission pathways
consistent with having a likely chance of holding the increase in global
average temperature below 2 C, or 1.5 C above pre-industrial levels

j. Promote sustainable consumption and production patterns
Reason: Changing unsustainable and promoting sustainable patterns of
consumption and production and protecting and managing the natural
resource base of economic and social development are the overarching
objectives of and essential requirements for sustainable development
leading to health promotion according to the article Sustainable
Development: Knowledge Platform

k. Conserve and promote sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine


resources
Reason: Oceans, seas and coastal areas provide mankind with manifold
goods and ecosystem services fundamental to human well-being, global
food security and nutrition. They form an integrated and essential
component of the Earths ecosystem and are critical to sustainable
development.
l. Protect and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, halt
desertification,
land degradation and biodiversity loss
Reason: Rio+20 noted that some countries recognize the rights of
nature in the context of the promotion of sustainable development.
Rio+20 affirmed the conviction that in order to achieve a just balance
among the economic, social and environmental needs of present and
future generations, it is necessary to promote harmony with nature. It
acknowledged the natural and cultural diversity of the world, and
recognized that all cultures and civilizations can contribute to
sustainable development according to the article Sustainable

m. Achieve peaceful and inclusive societies, access to justice for all, and
effective and
capable institutions
Corruption and bribery in all its forms, abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all
forms of violence and torture against children, weak participation of
developing countries in the institutions of global governance have all
affected health promotion negatively according to the article Sustainable
Development: Knowledge Platform.
n. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global
partnership for sustainable development
Domestic capacity for tax and other revenue collection have been
affecting health promotion as well as the inability of the developing
countries to attain long-term debt sustainability through coordinated
policies aimed at fostering debt financing, debt relief and debt
restructuring, as appropriate, and address the external debt of highly
indebted poor countries (HIPC) to reduce debt distress as discussed in the
article Sustainable Development: Knowledge Platform.

At the local level:


a. Attain healthy lives for all
: People must be the center of sustainable development and sustained
and inclusive economic growth should be promoted, as well as the social
development and environmental protection and thereby to benefit all for
the sake of health promotion, in particular the children of the world, youth
and future generations of the world without distinction of any kind
according to the article Sustainable Development: Knowledge Platform.
b. Provide quality education and life-long learning opportunities for all
According to what was discussed in class due to unaffordability and
lack of transportation many refugees and citizens are unable to
educate their children which affect health promotion negatively.
c. Attain gender equality, empower women and girls everywhere
Due to the fact that some narrow minded cultures seem to violate
women by cutting off her clitoris to stop her from having sex before
marriage greatly affect health promotion (Discussed in class)
d. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe and sustainable
According to what has been discussed in class many Syrians have been
displaced or have migrated to other countries because of the wars that
threatened their lives day by day thus affecting health promotion
Goal not selected as health promoting points:
Ensure sustainable energy for all: Having sustainable energy isnt a
necessity for having a healthy life.
