INTRODUCTION

PepsiCo is one of the largest food and beverage companies in the world. It
manufactures and sells 18 brands of
beverages and snack foods and
generates over $98 billion in retail
sales. PepsiCo encompasses the
Pepsi Cola, Frito-Lay, Tropicana,
Quaker, and Gatorade brands and
offers products in over 200 countries.
It
currently holds 36 percent of the total
snack food market share in the U.S.
and 25 percent of the market share
of
the refreshment beverage industry. The companys headquarters are in
New York and employs over 200,000 people. PepsiCo has received many
awards and recognitions over the years, including being ranked in the top
25 of the best global brands, ranking number four overall by Diversity Inc,
and earning the Green Award by the Environmental Protection Agency.
PEPSI IN PAKISTAN
The market in Pakistan is surely dominated by Pepsi. It has proven itself to
be the No.1 soft drink in Pakistan. Now Pepsi is recognized as Pakistanis
National drink. In 1971, first plant of Pepsi was constructed in Multan, and
from their after Pepsi is going higher and higher. Pepsi is the choice soft
drink of every one. It is consumed by all age groups because of its
distinctive taste. Compared with other Cola in the market, it is a bit sweeter
and it contributes greatly to its liking by all. Consumer's survey results
explain the same outcome and Pepsi has been declared as the most
wanted soft drink of Pakistan.

For social help our society help Pepsi has implanted a purification
water plant in Multan along with its unit in Multan. Every rich and poor
taking the advantage of this water plant.
In Pakistan Pepsi is a biggest sponsor of many sports events and its
always promotes cricket in the country.
ISSUE or Unethical Activities done by Pepsi
The company and other competitors in the industry have been heavily
criticized about the quality and the quantity of the water used in
their beverages.
In 2003, the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) claimed that
the water which PepsiCo and other beverage companies in India
were using contained toxins.
These toxins included pesticides that can contribute to cancer and
the overall breakdown of the immune system.
According to the CSE, Pepsi soft drinks had 36 times the level of
pesticide residues permitted under European Union Regulations.

Pepsi manufacturing plants are polluting the lands, making them


less fertile for growing crops.
A study conducted in 1992 found that PepsiCo About 60-70 percent
of this plastic was recyclable, creating a large amount of unnecessary
plastic waste.
and similar companies created 10,000 metric tons of plastic through
their manufacturing and importation processes.
Mostly we do some unethical activity for marketing promotions no
other cause of it.Ads as we know overaggressive (Dew. Sting).

Political factors
1. PepsiCo is nonalcoholic beverage and has to follow regulated by FDA
with consistency.
2. It deals in different markets and every market has its own policies and
procedures that are either stringent or either relaxed. Specially Cross
border situations are very different and Pepsi has to adapt to these
changes accordingly.
3. PepsiCos competitors use competitive pricing strategy and Pepsi has to
always keep this in mind.
4. PepsiCo has to also deal with governments focus on stricter water
pollution norms and land acquisition for new factories in different countries.
Economic Factors
1. Usually whenever there is an economic
downturn faced by the economy,
companys sales are badly affected and
they have to restructure their strategies.
2. The economic in 2008 was in Pepsis

Favor. It resulted in increased sales of its beverages as people were


jobless and were sitting at home, spending more time with family and
friends.
3. Availability of labor is another very important economic factor .In some
countries the labor is quite expensive and if its cheap then sometimes
labor is not well trained.

advertisements are designed accordingly.

and newer designs.

1. With the technologies coming in, companies have changed their
strategies and operations accordingly. A recent trend that has been seen
and something that almost every company is inclining toward is Social
