Family Structure and Characteristics

They aside at 146 Pabiliona compound, Brgy Isla Valenzuela City. They have a nuclear type of family. They also
have a smooth and close contact relationship. When it comes on decision making, Mercy usually decides for the family
because Joel is always at work. If someone gets sick, Mercy is responsible in taking care of them. The family usually
sleeps at 10pm, get sup at 10am and usually takes a nap around 2-4am in the afternoon.

Socio-Economic and Cultural Characteristics

There house is made of light materials, has few furniture. They don’t have a refrigerator, so they store their food in
the cabinet. They use firewood for cooking and use pail system in their toilet. The neighborhood is considered as a slum
area. The health center is located approximately 100 meters from their house. Joel works in a \scrap metal business
earning P.2, 200 per month and Mercy is a volunteer Bantay bayan in their Barangay earning P.1000 per month. They
normally eat three meals a day. They often eat meat and fish. They seldom eat salty and sweet foods. However, Joel
seem to be overweight because of eating fat foods and drinking beer often.
