YES FOUNDATION
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
The San Antonio Youth Education Scholarships Foundation was established to provide educational
scholarships, materials and technology to financially challenged individuals and taxexempt community
organizations in San Antonio and designated South Texas Counties*.
Our Programs purpose is to address South Texas economic development and future workforce needs by
providing educational components that will contribute to a higher productivity and quality of life.
SA YES Scholarships are made available to individuals who wish to continue their studies at an
accredited college, university or educational program in San Antonio and designated South Texas
counties. The SA YES Foundation is committed to assisting individuals in our community become more
employable and productive through education. SA YES Scholarship recipients must currently reside in a
household with an annual gross household income not greater than $40,000 (additional eligibility
standards must be met). Applicants for the SA YES Scholarship may be current high school seniors,
students currently enrolled in college, university or vocational school and students preparing to enroll in
such institutions in years subsequent to high school or GED completion.
The SA YES Foundation does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age,
disability, veteran status or any other criterion made unlawful under applicable state or federal law.
Additionally, the employment status of any prospective recipient will not be considered relevant criteria in
the selection process. However, applicants may not be considered if a family member is actively serving on
the SA YES Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee.
The approximate number of eligible individuals and the amount to scholarship awards will be determined
annually through the application process and will be based on revenues generated through donation and
acceptable fundraising practices.
All funds awarded will be sent by registered mail directly to the educational institution declared by the
scholarship recipient. Funds not used for the purposes intended will be forfeited and refunded directly to
the SA YES Foundation.

*Designated Counties are as follows:
Atascosa, Bexar, Brooks, Comal, Dimmit, Frio, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall,
Kerr, Maverick, Medina, Starr, Uvalde, Val Verde and Zavala
The SA YES Foundation scholarship selection committee shall have complete discretion for all scholarship selection.

Scholarship consideration are:
The eligibility standards for students who graduated from high school one or more years
prior to submitting this application are:
Official High School (if graduation was within the last 8 yrs) and or College transcript(s)
Planning to attend an approved and or accredited college, university, career college or
educational program in San Antonio or South Texas (refer to list of designated counties)
Narrative written by applicant that answers the following questions in 300400 words.
Why are you a good candidate to receive the SA YES Scholarship? and How will your education
change your quality of life?
Federal tax return for previous year showing annual household income of not greater than
$40,000 (form 1040, page 1 & 2 required)
Current pay stub(s) and W2 form for all wage earners in household. For those members in
your family that receive Social Security Benefits you must provide End of Year Social Security
Statement(s)
Two (2) letters of recommendation from persons outside your immediate family
Proof of residency in San Antonio or designated County* (i.e. utility bill)
Application must be completed and submitted by deadline of March 15
SA YES scholarships may be considered renewable when the recipient maintains a
cumulative 2.5 GPA and meets all scholarship standards.
Renewal applicants please submit the following:
Completed SA YES Application
Official Transcript stating a cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher
Tax return for prior year (form 1040, page 1 & 2)
Narrative written by applicant that answers the following question in 200400 words.
