CALL FOR PARTNERSHIP
PROPOSED REHABILITATION OF MNAZI MMOJA HOSPITAL PARK
AND THE BUS (DALADALA) TERMINAL
Mnazi Mmoja hospital is situated in Stone town in the Urban West Region of Zanzibar.
It is the only referral hospital that receives and manages various patients who come
from all over Zanzibar seeking medical aid. Currently, the hospital has been expanded
to the capacity of 500 beds andserves for both outpatient & in-patient services and
operates 24hours daily. Following the new expansion, there has been an increase in
demand for hospital services, aggravated by the growing influx of patients, visitors
and other users numbering more than 2000 individuals daily.
In order to address this growing challenge, the Hospital - through the Ministry of
Health intends to utilize the public premises - Mnazi Mmoja Park which is in front of
the Hospital after securing the necessary permits from STCA, to be properly used as a
waiting bay or shelter by all those who come for medical care and other services at
the Hospital including those family members who escort their patients.
The Ministry of Health seeks to implement this project through a transparent public
process, an innovative public private partnership (PPP) in order to implement the
proposed Rehabilitation of The Mnazi Mmoja Hospital Park and the Bus (daladala)
Terminal on the side. The assignment will also include the development of the visitors
waiting shade, together with the expansion of the bus terminal and its associated
structure (pharmacy, kiosks, public toilets, caf and restaurant services that will serve
the daily population attending the MnaziMmoja Hospital).
The proposed partnership will comprehensively develop the Mnazi Mmoja Hospital
Park to create a modern, dynamic and multiple-use facility to cater the needs of all
hospital users and the local community alike. It is envisaged that the proposed
partnership will help the hospital to achieve the goal of transforming the park and
surrounding premises into a multitude of services and human needs.
The Ministry of Health, is therefore inviting all interested and eligiblepartners,
companies, businesses and individuals or organizations to apply for the task with their
detailed proposals for the development of the area and its associated business
venture not later than 1st July 2015. The proposal should clearly include the Financial
aspects and return on investment from the PPP perspective. All Submissions of the
