Re:

Delta Connection Team to Reposition in Atlanta

This afternoon, I met with the Delta Connection team in Minneapolis/St.Paul to announce the
relocation of the group to Atlanta as part of a broader plan to elevate our regional business to better
meet our mainline standards. Improving the Delta Connection brand in operational reliability and
integrity, financial performance and customer experience is a critical component of Deltas 2015 Flight
Plan and yet another way we can continue to innovate and keep Delta ahead of the pack.
Of course, the decision to transfer the team of approximately 40 Delta employees is not one I take
lightly. Delta, as always, is committed to providing the support and resources needed for those
employees to make the decision to relocate or find other opportunities with Delta or Delta Connection.
The team will transition to Atlanta at the end of the busy summer season.
As part of this transition, I have also asked Barry Wilbur, current Chief Operating Officer at Endeavor
Air to assume the role of Managing Director for Delta Connection operations, based in Atlanta. During
his tenure at Endeavor, Barry led several key initiatives to improve the airlines operational reliability
and performance; his institutional knowledge and skill will be an asset to the broader Delta
Connection team.
Weve consistently demonstrated success in making critical decisions aimed at improving the longterm health of the company for the benefit of our customers, employees and shareholders. The
decision to relocate the small team of Delta Connection and supporting Finance employees will result
in considerable opportunities for improved collaboration and integration with Deltas mainline
operation.
As an airline, weve set aggressive goals to elevate the Connection brand and provide a consistent
experience for customers between mainline flights and those operated by our regional partners.
Achieving those goals will require a more integrated approach to our business where teams can easily
share ideas and best practices on both sides of the operationsomething that is developed out of colocation.
We have made considerable strides in the last several years to bring a high level of consistency
between the mainline and regional brands, but there is still work to do. This move is yet another
important step to improve the Delta brand and continue to innovate for the benefit of our customers
and our business.
Deltas regional operation will always be an important part of the airline and I have quickly grown to
appreciate the hard work of the talented and dedicated Delta Connection team in the few short
months since I assumed this new role. I look forward to continuing that work with them to raise the
bar even further.
