GENERAL GUIDELINES
Purpose/Scope

This work package encompasses all

requirements for installing the auxiliary
skid, to include foundation preps, setting
skid, connecting piping, ship-loose items and
grounding the skid.
Precautions
Only trained and authorized persons shall be permitted
to operate a hoist/crane. Lifting equipment shall not be
loaded beyond its rated load capacity. This includes
superimposed weight on load block or hooks and any
lifting devices such as chains and slings. If hoisting
equipment is used in placing and leveling equipment,
assure it is rated to support, as minimum, the total gross
weight of equipment to be lifted. Hoisting equipment
rated between two and four times the weight of
machinery to be lifted will provide a comfortable safety
margin.

INSTALL VIBRATION ISOLATORS IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURERS
INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO SETTING THE AUXILIARY SKID. BELOW IS A GENERIC
REPRESENTATION OF A PROCEDURE FOR INSTALLING VIBRATION ISOLATORS
FOR FAMILIARIZATION PURPOSES. MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATION WILL
APPLY. EACH ISOLATOR HAS FOUR BOLT HOLES TO SECURE IT TO THE SHIP
BEDPLATE. FOR ALIGNMENT OF THE VIBRATION ISOLATORS, EACH ISOLATOR HAS
JACK BOLT HOLES FOR CUSTOMER-FURNISHED 5/8 JACK BOLTS THAT WILL
ADJUST THE HEIGHT, PITCH, AND ROLL.

TASKS

INITIALS

1.

Set vibration isolators true, and level shim as required. Height should be in
accordance with engineering drawings.

2.

Rig and lift the auxiliary skid. Inspect underneath and ensure there are smooth, clean
contact surfaces.

3.

Set auxiliary skid on X-Y center points

4.

Recheck levelness of vibration isolators after auxiliary skid has been set per
manufacturers instructions.

5.

Tighten securing bolts

6.

Remove jack bolts.

DATE

NOTICE
EACH VIBRATION ISOLATOR CONTAINS AN INTERNAL STOPPED STRUCTURE
INSIDE. INTERNAL STOPPED SHOULD BE SET AFTER AUXILIARY SKID HAS BEEN
SET AND ISOLATORS SECURING BOLTS TORQUED. INTERNAL STOPPED

Set internal stopper. Turn internal hex-head stud upwards (right-hand, turn counter
clockwise), until stud provides some resistance or until isolator starts to turn down,
indicating the stopped head has reached the upper limit. Next, turn stopped
adjustment hex-head nut downward (opposite direction) to provide a clearance of
6mm (approximately two turns of the nut).
Levelness of vibration isolators and internal stopper should be rechecked after ship
has been launched.

9.

Secure skid with foundation bolts and tighten nuts in accordance with engineering
drawings.

10.

Connect skid grounds.

11.

Install piping.

12.

Install remaining ship-loose items.
