PRAYER

DAVID TURYABE AND MARGARET NTULANABO Issue #38 - June 2015

Prayer is just as important today as it was in the Bible times . This month David
Turyabe and Margaret Ntulanabo help us understand the importance of Prayer in
a Christians life.

David is a married man, married to

one wife and between them a very
lovely daughter.
He is a Sales Personnel for Mabaati
Roofing system, and loves praising
God for the far He has brought him
for if it wasnt for His grace, he says
he would be 100% bad news.

David Turyabe

1. We know that you are a prayerful

person, do you have a particular
posture you assume when you pray?
I cannot say that when I pray with a certain posture God hears or not.
What I think matters is the posture or position of ones heart. I dont
consider the way I speak or position myself but I consider the position of
my heart which also affects my body posture while praying. It is not true
to say that whoever humbles oneself on the outside is actually humbled
on the inside.
Prayer, as we normally call it, is the communication system
we use to talk to God. It is true that our communication
with people is determined by our relationship with those
people. There is a great difference in the way one talks to a
person who is their friend and the way one talks to a
stranger or not their friend. If you also consider parents,
our communication with our parents is determined by our
relationship with them. For example I remember not spending much
time with my dad so our relationship wasnt so friendly in that I offered
extreme honor to him in form of fear even though I loved him deep in
my heart. It was always very hard for me to go before him whenever I
needed to ask for something from him. It was just of recent after
accepting Christ as Lord of my life that I was encouraged to spend more
time with my father to boost our relationship. I remember staying in his
house a few days to my wedding day. I used this time to bond with my
dad like never before.

Margaret is married to Medad

Ntulanabo. She joined Kampala
Baptist Church (KBC) so many
years ago, though she was fellowshipping with the Anglican Church
of Uganda when she came to know
Christ. When she came to KBC, she
was discipled by Jim and Linda
Rice, who taught her many
Margaret Ntulanabo Christian disciplines including living
a prayerful life. She has had two children though both have passed
away. She however has five children whom she has parented.
1.

You have been seen to consistently attend all prayer meetings

at KBC, what is your secret?
The secret behind it all is that the more time I have spent in prayer and
reading Gods word, the more I have found friendship with God. And I
have understood that He is my father whom I can tell all my secrets
and problems with confidence that He can handle whichever thing I
cant handle. So with all these, I just cant help being in His presence.
He also tells us in His word that when we draw near to Him, He will
draw near to us. Its
only
through
prayer and reading
His word that I can
draw near to God.
Therefore I pray
because I want to
draw near to God every single day and listen to Him.

body into the right position

2. The Bible tells us to pray at all times, what does this mean and
how practical is it for a believer?
If we are not praying at any time then we are likely to be grumbling
and in some way undermining God because we are trying to do
everything according to our natural abilities. But since God tells us to
cast our burdens unto Him for He cares for us, its very practical to
pray at all times deep inside our hearts because God is always ready to
listen to us.

The quality of life you would love to enjoy is directly related to the

closest to me than any other friend.
2. In your opinion, do the physical expressions one makes while
praying and the way one presents themselves during prayer have any
effect on how God hears and answers their prayers?
If its not from the inside, then any gesture made on the outside is
rather useless. The body can appear to be humbled when actually your
heart is in a different state. That is why I still say that the position of your
heart matters because the heart will command your body into the right
position to speak loud, to kneel, to speak low, et cetera.
