Thank you for purchasing the Shire Whistle!

Basically, its an Irish Whistle, but SHIRE WHISTLE

sound so much cooler. We dare you not to play Howard Shores beautiful Shire melodies on this thing.
We worked incredibly hard to make sure the Shire Whistle is dead simple to play. You can choose
between 4 different types of vibrato, and if youre anything like us, noodling around with it will transport
you directly to Bag End. In a nutshell, heres what you get when you purchase:
Bad-ass Irish Whistle
Amazing, custom-scripted vibrato
TRUE normal legato/gliss legato
Variable speed performance script
44.1k / 24-bit samples
Full Kontakt 4.2.4+ required

Installation Notes
Un-compress Embertone_ShireWhistle.rar using your favorite archiving utility (WinRAR for PC
UnRarX for Mac)
Included are 4 NKI files:
Shire Whistle - Braveheart Vib.nki Freeeeeeeedom! This vibrato style closely matches what youll
hear when listening to James Horners beautiful score for Braveheart.
Shire Whistle - Finger Vib.nki A specific style of vibrato achieved by repeatedly fingering a note.
Shire Whistle - Normal Vib.nki The sweet kind of vibrato that youd expect from an Irish Whistle!
Shire Whistle - Slow Vib.nki Slightly slower, effective for lyrical playing.

Legato = monophonic legato

POLY SUS = polyphonic sustains
Stac = Awesome short notes

RR = borrowed round robin on/off

STAGE = convolution on/off
Ornaments = short gestures on note attack

Configure leads you to this screen:

Dynamics CC#11 (Expression pedal) by default. The controller you enter here will trigger a realistic
swelling/softening effect as you move the fader/knob up and down.
Vibrato CC#1 (modwheel) by default. The controller you enter here will trigger vibrato, intensifying as
you move the fader/knob up.
** PRO TIP! If youre in a hurry, setting BOTH dynamics/vibrato to CC#1 (modwheel) makes for
a super smooth playing experience. Try it, then send us flowers for our brilliance J
Air Noise Controls the intensity of an extra air noise, most prevalent as the dynamics fader/knob is
brought up.
Orn Velo defines what threshold will trigger an ornament. Set to 127 means youll have to slam the
key extra hard to get an ornament to play. Setting it lower will protect you from destroying your
keyboard and coming down with carpal tunnel syndrome.
Release Samples When highlighted, youll hear a subtle release sound when you lift the key. If you
dont care for that sound, press the button and get rid of it!

Again, thanks for supporting our work and we hope you enjoy Shire Whistle! If you have any questions
or issues with it, email us at info@embertone.com. We will get back to you ASAP with some
answers/assistance. Happy composing!
