Tributary Timing
Mode
Set the timing mode of the NE tributary unit. The mode can only
be set when the cross-connect unit is XC4, X16 or TXC. As the
NE and its cross-connect unit are different in type, the NE
tributary unit works in two different modes: mode 1 (internal
timing) or mode 2 (external timing).

In the lower-left pane, select the appropriate Ethernet unit and click the
double-right-arrow button (red).
9-8
Step
Action
Click to select the Ethernet unit internal port. Attributes of TAG, VLAN
ID, VLAN Priorities, Encapsulation Protocol and Shared Attributes can
be modified. Modify their values to the appropriate option.
Note:
1) TAG is used to set the type of the processed messages.
Tag Aware port will only process the messages with Tag, and those
messages without Tag will be discarded.
Access port will only process the messages without Tag, and those
messages with Tag will be discarded.
Hybrid port processes the two types of messages. It will add Tag to the
messages without Tag according to the VLAN ID of this port.
2) The value of VLAN ID should be an integer between 0 and 4095.
3) VLAN Priorities refers to service quality level. The priority increases from 0
to 7. For example, when the network is busy, the messages with high VLAN
priority will be processed first, and the messages with low priority may be
discarded.
4) Shared attributes are to set the sharing status of the port.
Not share means the port can only be used for one service.
Share means the port can be used for multiple services.
Click <Apply> to complete the change. The Operation Result dialog box is
displayed and indicates operation succeeded.
Repeat this procedure for other units in the same NE or other NEs.

When you select to feed, the 2-wire cables carry -48V DC feed. You can connect the
phone and make a call without dialing after configuring the audio service. In testing,
the feeding mode is usually configured so as to connect a phone for testing.
When you select not to feed, you can connect a no-feed terminal (e.g. dedicated
MODEM) to transfer services.
Note:
When a unit is powered on, the default status is no feed. Some of the no-feed
terminals may be damaged if they are fed, so you must make sure whether the feed
status is correct or not before cutover.
