You will do preliminary research for one week on the topic area assigned to you and submit
a proposal for a suitable research paper title which should include background reading,
reason for selection of the title and approach you will take to writing the research paper. You
may also include a synopsis or abstract of your proposed paper. (By week 3)
Once your paper proposal is approved, you will be given three weeks to do research and
write a fully referenced research paper of 2,000 to 2,500 words suitable for submission
to an academic journal. (By week 6)
Specific instruction for your submission are as follows: The paper should be submitted in
two copies, one set should contain the topic area, specific title of your paper and the last 5
digits of your id number, and no other identifying sign such as your name, to be used for peer
evaluation. The other set should contain the same information as above, but must contain
your name. This will be marked by the lecturer.
You will be allocated a paper written by one of your peers, with only id number as given
above and given one week for you to review this based on the research paper evaluation
sheet as provided to you. (By week 7)

The final documentation for each group should be bound in a single document with the
following sections:
Group scenario documenting scenario issues discussed, ubiquitous applications that
you decide to apply with technical details, ethical/security and any other human and
implementation issue.
Copies of individual group members research paper proposal, actual research paper
and peer evaluation sheet.
Screen shots or images of prototype or simulation presented
Copies of slides used for the presentation
Any appendices or relevant additional material.
All documentation must include soft-copies in the form of an attached CD-ROM.

Marking Criteria
Distinction Criteria (75%+)
Distinctive work will exhibit a high level of analysis and outstanding cogency and
clarity in communication and reflection. The supporting report should be
exceptionally well-substantiated in its analysis, reasoning, and conclusions within
each area.
In addition, at the advanced level the student will demonstrate an exceptional ability
to synthesise innovative perspectives of the topic with work from other parts of the
discipline.
Credit Criteria (65 74%)
A student should be able to show further evidence of knowledge, understanding and
application of the module material. The supporting report should be well written
should be supported throughout in its analysis, reasoning and conclusions.
An advanced level will be indicated by the students reference to, and integration of,
material from previous programmes of study.
Pass Criteria (50 64%)
There should be satisfactory evidence of knowledge, understanding and application
of the module material in the supporting report. Generally, the report will be less
effective in conveying meaning

Work not meeting criteria set for Criteria 50% is unlikely to result in a pass mark.
