Check-OUT: The Race

Instructions for participants
AIMS
Check OUT: The Race 2 aims to:
1. Develop and bolster participants individual identity and self-esteem as
LGBTQ youths.
2. Strengthen friendships within participants and provide platform for
participants to forge new ones.
3. Increase participants understanding of the various LGBTQ organisations
and their roles in the community
PARTICIPATION DETAILS
1. Participants will form groups of 3 or 4, where every member MUST be at
least 18 years old at the date of the race.
2. All participants must be deemed to be physically and mentally fit for
participation in the race.
3. Participants are to sign an indemnity form in which they are to abide by
the rules and regulations of the race.
4. In the case of an absence of member(s) on the day of the race, teams will
continue with the participation of the race. Teams may replace absent
members on the day of the race.
5. Participants will have to pay a non-refundable registration fee of $10 per
member.
6. Participants intending to participate individually may do so but will be
given slots based on the availability of space and the agreement of the
team to accept an additional member.
RACE FORMAT
1. Teams must complete all 9 stations within a stipulated time of 7 hours,
failing to do so will result in disqualification, despite completing all the
stations.
2. Teams will complete 4 stations in the morning leg and 4 stations in the
afternoon leg. Bearing this in mind, teams must be wary of the time limit
given to them.
3. Teams must follow all road rules and regulations as stated by the Land
Transport Authority and be responsible to pay for any fines or penalties
incurred during the race.
4. Teams will not be given any money for the purpose of transportation.
Teams are to take PUBLIC transportation SMRT/SBS buses, SMRT/SBS
trains, taxi and walk only. Teams found to be taking other modes of
transportation will be disqualified.
5. Teams are allowed to use any form of navigation system and maps/road
directories to search for the locations.

6. Teams must complete all the missions as dictated in their passport. Only
once the activity has been completed that the station master will give
them a score on their passport.
7. Teams are to keep their passport with them all the time. There will be no
replacement of passport should there be such cases and teams will be
automatically disqualified for the loss of the passport.
8. Teams are not allowed to proceed to the next station should they fail to
complete the mission at their present location.
9. Points are tabulated based on each mission at every station. In the case of
a tie, the faster team to reach the final location first will be at an
advantage.
10.This is a rain or shine race. There will be no change (unless otherwise
stated) in the locations or missions in the case of an inclement weather. In
the event of a change, teams will be notified via their volunteers tagged
to their teams.
11.Throughout the race, teams may take breaks when necessary. Should a
team member decided to fall out from the race, the rest of the team
members may continue while the member who fell out may not be eligible
for the award. However, the member who has fallen out can proceed to
the final venue.
12.Lunch will not be provided for all teams. However, teams must ensure that
they are ready for the second leg of the race given the stipulated meeting
time.
TIME
1. All teams have to complete the race within 7 hours. Teams will be flagged
off at 1000hrs and are expected to end by 1700hrs. Teams who do not end
within the stipulated time will be automatically disqualified.
2. The time for the race includes any loss of time from traffic congestion,
waiting time for public transport and any other administrative matters
(usage of restroom, meals etc.). Changes made by the organisers will be
relayed by the Programme IC to the respective volunteers tagged to each
team.
3. Teams are advised to monitor their time wisely and to factor any possible
scenarios that may cause delay.
SAFETY
1. Teams are encouraged to stay hydrated at all times, especially on a hot
day.
2. Teams with members who were on Medical Leave/ill on the previous day
should inform the CSO or SO (P) and the volunteers before the start of the
race.
3. Teams are reminded to observe safety rules on the road at all times.
ATTIRE

1. Team members are to be in proper attire with the official race T-shirt at all
times for the entire race. Sandals and slippers (or heels) are not
encouraged. The organisers will not be responsible for any injury caused
due to improper attire.
MISC
1. Teams are to stay around at the final venue from 1700hrs till the release
of results (expected to be at 1745hrs). During the period, refreshments
and light dinner will be provided.
2. Note that this is a closed door event so teams are not allowed to bring in
other friends or family members throughout the entire race.

Terms and Conditions


I hereby agree to the following Terms and Conditions of my participation
in Check OUT The Race 2.
I acknowledge and agree that:
Participation in the race is entirely voluntary on my own part;
I shall receive no payment for my participation in the race.
I have read, understood and accepted the Rules and Regulations applicable to
the race.
I have been made fully aware of, and fully understand and acknowledge the
risks involved in the activities in the race, which will include:
Participation in a race that includes running, walking from point-to-point,
participating in physical and mental challenges;
I hereby represent, warrant and undertake to SGRainbow and Young OUT
Here (the Organisers) the following with full knowledge that they shall be
relied upon in accepting my participation:
My personal particulars disclosed herein are correct;
I have no medical condition that would affect my safety and physical wellbeing arising from my participation in this race and that I am medically
and physically fit and competent to participate in the race;
I shall dutifully and fully abide by the Rules and Regulations of this race
and any applicable laws.
I further declare to the best of my knowledge that I do not suffer from any of
the following pre-existing medical conditions:

Cardiac ailments, inclusive and not exhaustive to chest pains, high blood
pressure, heart murmur, and form of heart abnormalities.
Respiratory weakness or ailment, inclusive and not exhaustive to acute
asthma, bronchitis, tuberculosis, sinusitis, and other lung problems.
Neurological or epileptic conditions, inclusive and not exhaustive to fits,
fainting attacks, migraine, ailments arising out of severe head injury.
Orthopaedic conditions, inclusive and not exhaustive to recent fractures,
dislocations, or rheumatologic ailments.
Eye or ear related ailments.
Allergies due to environmental conditions and physical exertion.
Diabetes.
Carrier status of any infectious disease.
Medical treatment in the last 6 months that poses restrictions to my
participation in physical activities.
Any disability or deformity.
Any medical condition or ailment that requires routine medication.

I confirm that the representations, warranties and undertakings above are


true and correct. For avoidance of doubt, in consideration of the Organisers
accepting my participation in the race, I hereby confirm my agreement to
waive any claim (to the extent permitted under the laws of Singapore which I
(and any of my heirs, successors and assignees) may otherwise be entitled to
bring against the Organisers or your partners arising in any way out of my
participation in the race, including without limitation, any of the following:
Any injury, illness or death caused by or associated with my participation
in the race; or
Any fainting or other physical or nervous reaction to alarm, shock or fright
suffered during the race, whether such reaction manifests itself either
during or at any time after the race, or
The need for hospitalisation or any form of paramedic or out-patient care
which may arise from the two above mentioned points.
Finally,
I accept that all the Organisers decisions with regards to the race are
final.
I allow photographs/videos to be taken by the Organisers during the race
and understand that these may be used for archive and publicity
purposes.
In consideration of the acceptance of this entry, I do hereby
unconditionally waive and release the Organisers, their sponsors, all
officials, and persons involved in this race, from all claims and damages
whatsoever that may arise from my participation including without
limitation, personal injury. I also certify that I am physically fit to
participate in this race.
