Upgrade Information
Upgrading from FortiAP version 5.2.0 or later
FortiAP 5.2.3 supports upgrading from v5.2.0 or later

Upgrading from FortiAP v5.0

FortiAP 5.2.3 supports upgrading from v5.0.9.

FAP-221C upgrade path

For FAP-221C units with v5.0.6 firmware (BIOS version: 04000002), you should first upgrade to version 5.2.0 and then
upgrade to the latest version.

FAP-320C upgrade path

Upgrading the FAP-320C from version 5.2.1 to version 5.2.2 or newer requires an intermediary step that adjusts the
flash partition size to allow for a larger image to be stored on it. A flash upgrade image is stored in the same download
directory as the v5.2.2 image. The intermediary image will display B0221 Interim in the get system status
command output. Please use the following upgrade path to version 5.2.2 or newer:

v5.2.1 > FAP_320C-v5-FLASH-UPGRADE-fortinet.out > v5.2.2 or newer.

Downgrading to previous firmware versions

FortiAP 5.2.3 does not support downgrading to previous firmware versions.

Firmware image checksums

The MD5 checksums for all Fortinet software and firmware releases are available at the Customer Service & Support
portal, https://support.fortinet.com. After logging in select Download > Firmware Image Checksums, enter the
image file name including the extension, and select Get Checksum Code.
