The following 60 questions are based on the safety handbook for the Grove model RT 990
rubber tired crane. The purpose of this open-book test is to determine that the operatorcandidate is able to locate important information from the manufacturer's manual.
Although this test is open-book, operator-candidates may not work together to answer
questions, share answers between themselves, or obtain outside help from anyone other
than the instructor.
To pass this test, the operator-candidate must correctly answer 45 of the 60 questions. Of
the 60 questions, there are 10 critical questions that are marked with asterisks (*). The
operator-candidate must correctly answer all ten of these critical questions.
In the space to the right of each question, write the page number on which you found the
answer to that question. For example, if the answer to question #1 was found in section 1

determine that the operator-candidate is able to correctly use basic safe rigging practices

part of the study materials. The purpose of this open-book test is to determine that the
operator-candidate is able to correctly use load charts to determine safe working loads and
safe crane working configurations. Although this test is open-book, operator-candidates

outside help from anyone other than the instructor.
To pass this test, the operator-candidate must correctly answer 29 of the 38 questions. Of
