Industrial Soil Laboratory Scale: 1 inch = 200 cm

Physical Chemistry Laboratory Scale: 1 inch = 200 cm
Unit Operations Laboratory Scale: 1 inch -200 cm
Water Laboratory- Scale: 2 cm = 100 cm

Procedure
We were tasked to measure the dimensions of different laboratories and make a
diagram of each of them. So first, I borrowed five measuring tape from the surveying
office and distributed it to five different groups, since I was told that the measuring
tape should be returned at 11:30, my classmates and I decided to divide the task and
assign each group to their designated laboratories in order to not waste any time.
Group 1 were assigned to work on the water laboratory, group 2 and 3 on the Physical
Chemistry Laboratory, group 4 were working on Units and Operations laboratory and
group 5 worked on the Industrial Soil Laboratory.
On each of our assigned laboratory, we further divided ourselves into subgroups,
in order to work fast and efficiently.
Some subgroups were assigned to their designated areas to measure, other
subgroups were assigned to record the measurements and make a draft of the
laboratories.
When were finished we collected all the data from every subgroup and organized
the information. Then, we met up with the other groups and finalized the data to be
distributed to our classmates.

Observations
The laboratories were appropriate and well-maintained. Though I find the Water
Laboratory, Industrial Soil Laboratory, and Physical Chemistry Laboratory quite
small for us, and the equipment were lacking, which lead us to take turns in doing the
experiment.
Also, in the Units and Operations Laboratory, there are a lot of equipment which
seemed to be unused and were in the process of oxidation. Although, I can see that
there is an effort of maintaining the equipment, it is still useless if the equipment were
unused, because how much you prevent it, unused equipment will break no matter
what you do to maintain it. So therefore, the best thing to do is use it.
Therefore I think that laboratories should be adequate when it comes to equipment
so that we students would easily learn and comprehend our lessons or experiments.
With a huge number likes ours, we needed a bigger laboratory, I presumed that the
University did not expect to have a huge number of Chemical Engineering student, to
be using the laboratories, because usually only a few Chemical Engineering students
pass their requirements or requisites but now that a lot of us did, I hope that the
University will allocate a budget for bigger and better laboratories that we Chemical
Engineering students and teachers can use for our learning and research.
Overall, I think that knowing our laboratories, its facilities and equipment, is a
great help, because we were able to familiarize ourselves with each one of it and we
were able to create a floor plan about it.

VI.

Conclusion
In this activity I was able to familiarize myself with the Laboratories and
facilities, offered by the university for us Chemical Engineering students, and I was
also able to cooperate well with my classmates in performing the tasks at hand. Also,
I learned that, in making a floor plan, one must be meticulous and focused in his
work, in order for him to create an accurate and precise result.
Measuring a whole laboratory is not an easy job, we should be resilient and use any
available resources in order to finish the job on time.
