Course Description: Designed for students to further their awareness of financial
reporting as part of a global system for providing information for resource allocation
decisions, including the existence of two financial reporting systemsU.S. GAAP and
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This course is first in a two part
sequence, and focuses on the asset side of the balance sheet. Topics include the review
of the basic financial statements, time value of money, receivables, property, plant and
equipment, and intangibles.
Homework:
Every chapter will have assigned Wiley Plus homework exercises/problems. Each
homework assignment is 20 points; you will have an unlimited amount of time and
attempts to complete the HW.
It is virtually impossible to do well in accounting without working and understanding the
homework. To get the most out of the lectures, you should have completed the reading
and assigned problems before coming to class.

Wiley Plus Post Quizzes 90 min quiz, (1-3) one to three problems, similar to HW, due
after lecture

Course Policies:

Students missing any exam will receive a zero on the examination unless
they have documented evidence that they missed the examination for legitimate reasons.
Prior arrangements can be made to take the examination earlier than the scheduled date,
but no make-up exams will be given. Students missing any quiz will receive a zero. NO MAKEUP
QUIZZES OR HOMEWORK CHECKS. DROPPED SCORES ARE INCORPORATED TO ALLOW
FOR MISSED CLASSES.
A grade of I (Incomplete) for the course will only be given if, due to extraordinary
circumstances (e.g. hospitalization), you are unable to take the final exam and you have a
passing grade on all other exams. An Incomplete requires a written agreement between
the instructor and the student specifying the time and manner in which the student will
complete the course requirements during the students next term of enrollment.
Examinations are over at the end of the period designated for the examination. Students
arriving late for examinations will have less time to complete the examinations. The
examination period will not be extended to accommodate late arrivals.
Please turn your cellular phone off before coming to class.
Calculators that have the capability to store text are not allowed to be used. During
exams, all cell phones and portable media players must be kept in the backpacks or
carrying cases that are placed on the floor.
