1 About CALYPSO 2014

Please read the following notes before installing this software!

1.1 Important information

Special Geometries - Circle on Cone
5.8.08 07.10.2014
As from CALYPSO version 5.8 onwards the average height in Z was calculated incorrectly if the following
conditions applied: Usage of Special Geometry Circle on Cone in conjunction with a constrained radius
combined with the cone axis orientated in Z. This problem was resolved with version 5.8.08.
True Position Rotate by an Angle
5.8.08 24.09.2014
The calculation of Position characteristics for which the corresponding feature is not parallel to the reference
system and has a cylindrical tolerance zone while utilizing the function "Rotate by an Angle" was corrected
as from CALYPSO 5.6.12 onwards. Comparison of results with evaluations created with previous versions
may show differences.
CALYPSO Basics Operating Instructions changed
5.8.08 24.09.2014
The addition "DIN ISO 1101" has been removed from the coaxiality characteristic description in the "Details
on defining characteristics" chapter of the CALYPSO Basics operating instructions.
Single Point in Freeform Surface Exporting List of Points and Banner Display
5.8.00 14.05.2014
The output of single points from a freeform surface feature with bestfit has been modified. The values for
single point position and single point deviation contained in the export file are affected by this modification. In
the banner display, the values for single point position are affected. These values can deviate from values
displayed in earlier CALYPSO versions. These changes have no effect on the overall bestfit result as the
respective calculation is made independently.
Filter Function and Outlier Elimination
5.8.00 11.02.2014
As from CALYPSO 2014 Version 5.8 the default measurement plan settings for filter and outlier elimination
for Form are no longer effective for Line Profile, Curve Form and Free Form Surface Profile. The filter
function and outlier elimination for these characteristics can now only be activated via the corresponding
evaluation dialog of the respective feature.
When running measurement plans created in previous CALYPSO versions the following circumstances can
cause results to differ in certain cases: No filter was set for the characteristic, additionally a filter was
selected in the default measurement plan settings for filter and outlier elimination for Form as well as
selecting a value below 1/7 mm (0,1429 mm or 0,0056 inch) for the segment step width.
The filter settings must be carried out in the feature dialog directly, should identical results to previous
versions be required.
ViScan - Hardlock Dongle use only with USB 2.0 Port
5.6 01.07.2013
The Hardlock dongle required for ViScan application must not be connected to USB 3.0 ports (usually
marked by blue colour code). Please ensure that the dongle is connected to a conventional USB 2.0 port.
FACS Automation - Individual modification required
5.6 01.07.2013
The FACS Automation Interface is customised individually to suit the unique requirements, therefore
individual modification is required for every single installation. Please contact our Support Team before
running your FACS application with CALYPSO 2014.

1.2 Installation and System Related Notes

CALYPSO 2014 Parallel Installation
5.8 27.02.2014
Before installing CALYPSO 2014 alongside CALYPSO 5.2 or CALYPSO 5.4 please ensure that the following
Service Packs are already installed: CALYPSO 5.2.20 or CALYPSO 5.4.16 respectively. If this is not the
case, the installation of CALYPSO 2014 can cause a licensing conflict and consequently prevent CALYPSO
from starting.
Improved Setup Procedure
5.6 01.07.2013
The CALYPSO installer (for the Basic Package, ServicePacks and Patches) has been revised for Version
2014. Please refer to the installations instructions in chapter 4 for details.
Metrotom Measuring Module
5.6 01.07.2013
Before installing CALYPSO 2014 with the Metrotom Measuring Module you must uninstall any existing
version of CALYPSO! Parallel installation of more than one version of CALYPSO in combination with the
Metrotom Measuring Module is not permissible.
'Preset/Erode' Option with multiple Installation
5.6 01.07.2013
If CALYPSO 2014 is installed parallel to CALYPSO 5.4 the 'Preset/Erode' Option must be updated for 5.4.

1.3 Notes on the Application

Blade XML Output
5.8.12 04.12.2014
With previous versions of CALYPSO, the XML output files for Blade were created without taking the full
decimal places into account. This was corrected for CALYPSO 2014, the number of decimal places used is
now based upon the value set in CALYPSO.
O-Inspect: Control Panel Potentiometer
5.8.12 11.11.2014
Caution! The potentiometer on the O-Inspect control panel has no influence on rotary table movement.
RC List Qualification with Linescan
5.8.08 13.11.2014
The RC List Qualification for the sensors Linescan and Linescan II has been enabled with this version.
As a non-standard method of CNC qualification, the preset limits for the Sigma value are monitored during
the List Qualification. Exceeding one of these limits will cause the stylus sytem to be marked as invalid. With
a standard CALYPSO installation the limit for Sigma is set to 0,01 mm. This setting is too low for a LineScan
Sensor and should either be corrected to a higher value or deactivated completely.
PCM Inapplicable commands
The following PCM commands are no longer available and cannot be used as from 5.8.08:

5.8.08 27.08.2014

getTemperatureCorrection().temperatureTableFrontBottom,
getTemperatureCorrection().temperatureTableFrontTop
getTemperatureCorrection().temperatureTableRearBottom
getTemperatureCorrection().temperatureTableRearTop
O-Inspect: Tactile-Optical Adjustment
5.8.04 18.06.2014
The measurement plan for the tactile-optical adjustment has been revised and improved. The adjustment is
now less sensitive to varying lighting conditions. Due to the enhanced stability of the measurement plan the
adjustment procedure has also become more user friendly.
Please use the following measurement plans for the tactile-optical adjustment:
Use the measurement plan tactile_optical_adjustment_and_check_V1.3_C5.4_ViScan, if your camera is
controlled via a Framegrabber board. This applies to machine types O-INSPECT 442 up to August 2013,
that are equipped with a ViScan camera.
In all other cases use the measurement plan tactile_optical_adjustment_and_check_V1.4_C5.4. This
applies to machine types O-INSPECT 322 and machine types O-INSPECT 442 from September 2013
onwards, that are equipped with a Manta camera.
Please note: the tactile-optical adjustment must be carried out regularly in order to guarantee the specified
accuracy
Yellow Stoplight
5.8 16.04.2014
By switching the stoplight to yellow a CNC-run can be paused and subsequently continued by switching the
light back to green. However, this functionality is not always applicable. Switching the stoplight to yellow
should be avoided as soon as the sensor is in probing search mode or already taking points (single points or
scanning).
METROTOM: Neue Funktion "Check gray value"
5.6.04 22.08.2013
The function "Check gray value" has been added to the CT functionality. This function checks the calculated
gray value along with the "automatic parameter definition". Please observe that the function will only operate
correctly if the CT data set is already visualized and that the part consists of single component material only.

19.12.2014

Scanning optimization for passive sensors (Retry measurement after "airscanning")

5.6 01.07.2013
If the actual position of a feature differs largely from its nominal position, high speed scanning with passive
sensors (XXT) can lead to the so-called "airscanning" effect due to the loss of contact between the sensor
and the surface of the workpiece. In such a case, for newly created measurement plans, CALYPSO 2014 will
automatically repeat the measurement at half speed, taking the actual position of the feature into
consideration. This behaviour can also be activated for existing measurement plans created with earlier
CALYPSO versions by changing the compatibility settings (pulldown menu -> Resources -> Compatibility
Settings )
RT-AB Rotary Table Application
5.6 01.07.2013
When using the lifting and lowering function for loading the RT-AB rotary table please make sure that
subsequent measurements must be carried out in the same state as used for the definition of the base
alignment. Otherwise the subsequent measurement will not correspond to the base alignment!

1.4 Notes from previous CALYPSO versions

These notes also apply to the current version.

1.4.1 Operation
Device Administration
Please ensure that all CMM connections are closed (by closing traffic light windows) before removing a
device from the 'Measuring-Systems' page under 'Extras', 'Workroom', 'CMM'.
Calculating the alignment
When calculating an alignment, the evaluation setting ISO 5459 is not taken into consideration if the
compatibility mode 'Calculate Alignment as Base Alignment' is set to 'On'.
Selecting CMM System Setup for search path to nominal position
This setting is used for using the respective CMM default value for the probing search path. Previously the
value 5 (with **) was displayed as suggestion when selecting the default setting in the editor. However this
was not effective because of a limiting value prompt; the current CMM default value applied. Without
changing the measurement plan, 'CMM System Setup is now displayed as default setting (suggestion), the
performance does not change. If a numerical value is now given as search path, this value is effective even if
it is smaller than the previous limiting value. Too small a value should be avoided.
Probing Point Distribution in Slot Features
The distribution of points in circular sections of slot features changed from CALYPSO 4.6 onwards. Now the
same logic as for circles is used. Should an evaluation of a slot feature not be possible using an odd number
of probings (e.g. 5 points), an additional probing point should be added in order to have an even number of
probing points (e.g. increase no. of points from 5 to 6 ).
Measurement Plan Compatibility using Multiple-Strategy
Application of the multiple-strategy function in new measurement plans created with CALYPSO 4.4.04 or
newer or opening and saving existing measurement plans with CALYPSO 4.4.04 or newer will prevent the
usability of these plans with older CALYPSO versions!

CALYPSO Copyright 1996-2014 Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. All rights reserved.

19.12.2014

Measurement Plan Compatibility 'Sphere' with Circular Sections

Measurement plans created with versions older than CALYPSO 4.4 which contain spheres with circular
sections should be checked for the correct start angle in these features!

1.4.2 Rotary Table Operation

RT-AB Rotary Table Application
5.4.08 06.09.2012
When using the RT-AB, the lowered position must only be used for loading the rotary table and is not
suitable for measuring! Please make sure that the definition of the base alignment and subsequent
measurements are carried out with the RT-AB raised.
Moving an RT-AB Rotary Table on the CMM
5.4.04 04.07.2012
After moving a rotary table of the RT-AB type on a CMM, you are required to redefine the reference point of
the rotary table. Select 'Probe Reference Point of the Rotary Table' from the 'More' menu in the stoplight
window or from the rotary table menu .

RT Position for RT-AB Rotary Table

5.4.04 04.07.2012
When defining the rough position of the RT axis for an RT-AB rotary table in CALYPSO "RT position" the
user is prompted to probe the qualification point. This must be carried out with the rotary table set to 0
degrees. Please take notice of the information regarding the 0 degree position.
"Missing borehole" Function
5.4.04 13.06.2012
The "Missing borehole" function can only be used in conjunction with MT type sensors (e.g. VAST etc.) if the
designated stylus is qualified with a probing force of 100mN or higher. Otherwise the functionality cannot be
ensured. This also applies to the function "Search distance after nominal position".

1.4.3 Stylus Systems, Probes and Qualification

Reset during List Qualification
5.2.12 19.10.2011
A reset during List Qualification can cause the rotating carrier to stop in an undefined postion and the stylus
system name be changed to "not_defined". In this case the prompt to "Probe in stylus direction" must be
cancelled and you are required to select the stylus system manually before restarting the List Qualification.
Otherwise a collison can occur.
Air scanning function with Sensor type XXT TL2
The air scanning function is no longer supported for application with XXT TL2 sensors.

5.2 01.03.2011

Stylus data no longer valid when updating from CALYPSO 4.0 or older
5.0 20.05.2010
Existing stylus and configuration data can no longer be used when updating from older CALYPSO versions.
This concerns CALYPSO versions 4.0 as well as all older versions. If specific data has to be retained, please
contact our Software Hotline.
Stylus System Data Import
5.0 20.05.2010
Styli data exported with version 4.4.04.xx from systems with Zeiss or Renishaw index head (e.g. RDS, DSE,
MIH, PH9 and PH10) may not be imported into newer versions! The useability of imported styli when used on
a CMM is different than usage in simulation mode (without CMM). For use on a CMM re-qualification is
required, in simulation the styli can be used without re-qualifying.

CALYPSO Copyright 1996-2014 Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. All rights reserved.

19.12.2014

Shaft Radius of the Reference Sphere

5.0 20.05.2010
The Shaft Radius of the Reference Sphere on the 'Reference sphere management' page must be set to a
value large enough to cover all of the stylus diameters in use:

In order to prevent collision during probe qualification the 'Shaft Radius' setting must be
increased to a value that sufficiently takes into consideration the largest stylus radius in
use (see D2 for the red sphere illustrated).
However, increasing the radius will also reduce the amount of possible angular positions
for qualification (RDS,DSE etc.). A workaround to this situation is achieved by saving
multiple copies of one and the same reference sphere with a varying shaft radius and
selecting the sphere according to the requirements for probe qualification.

RCCAA
5.0 20.05.2010
RCCAA qualified stylus systems must not and need not be re-qualified using the list qualification method.
Sphere Coverage Angle for qualification of passive sensors
5.0 20.05.2010
The Sphere Coverage angle for a full qualification of passive sensors (XXT, SP25) is limited to a minimum of
180, values lower than 180 are ignored. In order to qualify smaller styli a reference sphere with a smaller
diameter (e.g. a stylus of which the radius is known) is required. Following a full qualification it is possible to
re-qualify a stylus using the regular reference sphere. For this a lower sphere coverage angle may be
selected and a 6-point qualification is performed.
Interruption of VAST-XXT CNC-Qualification
4.10 17.11.2009
Interrupting a CNC-qualification of a VAST-XXT, will result in undefined probe data! In this case the stylus
must be re-qualified manually completely before using it for measurement or re-running the CNCqualification. Please use 'Qualify passive stylus, the selection 'Geometry Re-qualification is not sufficient.
Special characters in Stylus System Names
4.10 17.11.2009
Special characters must not be used in stylus names and stylus system names! Under no circumstances
may apostrophes (' ') or quotation marks (" ") be used in names for styli or stylus systems nor may these
names begin with a special character (e.g. ) or end with a dot! Underscores ('_') may be used as
separators.
Automatic configuration of temperature sensors
You have to reconnect CALYPSO with the controller after adding or removing a temperature sensor, if
automatic configuration is activated in the C99 controller.

CALYPSO Copyright 1996-2014 Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. All rights reserved.

19.12.2014

Distance to Proberack
The preset default value for the distance to the proberack during stylus system changing of XXT and SP25
(for empty probe) was increased from 0 mm to 70 mm with CALYPSO 4.4. All holders which are created new
for XXT and SP25 are now preassigned with 70 mm. This can be adapted subsequently for each holder by
the Master user.
Side Styli and List Qualification
With the RDSCAA or DSECAA option, side styli can now also be qualified semi-automatically (except for
XXT sensors!). Please note: List qualification cannot be applied for stylus systems with side styli! However
as a result, on CMMs with articulating probes after a software update to CALYPSO 4.4.04 or newer, all the
styli have to be subsequently completely re-qualified! If you are using the RDSCAA or DSECAA option, it is
imperative that the MasterProbe can be used for the qualification of the fitting position. Passive sensors such
as XXT and SP25 cannot be used for this. To facilitate this, the List Qualification can be used (not for stylus
systems with side styli! ). The procedure is described on the following pages.

1. Open the Probing system qualification window

CALYPSO Copyright 1996-2014 Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. All rights reserved.

4. By clicking on the
icon, the message displayed
on the right will appear.
Select Overwrite and click
OK.
5. Close the window for setting the RDS axis with 'Close' and in the ''Probe
system qualification' window start the List Qualification using the caliper icon.
6. In the following dialog, please select List Qualification:

You are prompted to set the index holder to the angle A 0 B 0. You are then prompted to make a probing at
this angle position. This process also takes place if you have not defined a stylus in the angle position 0.
Using this position, the lengths of all the other styli in this stylus system are calculated and automatically
qualified.

O-Inspect with Rotary Table
5.2 09.05.2011
While creating a measurement plan with an O-Inspect equipped with a rotary table (RT), the RT should be
set to 0, even if the RT functionality is not utilized. This can be achieved by calling RT-Reference (the RT
axis must be valid) or temporarily deactivating the RT altogether:
Pulldown menu > Extras > Settings > CMM > Rotary Table > Activate Rotary Table Functionality to OFF
As a default the RT is deactivated when a new plan is opened (by 'RT activated for this plan in the rotary
table settings page), however, by switching between optical and tactile probing, the internal incorporation of
the RT angle is activated and can lead to incorrect rotated values for features measured.
ViScan Scanning unknown Contour
5.0 20.05.2010
With version 5.2 the scanning direction of the optical scanning of unknown contours has been changed. If
necessary existing measurement plans must be adjusted.

Windows 7/64-Bit - Graphics drivers for NVIDIA FX1800
A modification must be made to the driver 266.45 when in use with the graphics adapter NV FX1800 on
Windows 7/64-Bit systems. The 3D setting must be changed to 'Autodesk Motion Builder compatible' to
prevent slow reaction when rotating or moving CAD models.
Windows 7 - Regional Settings
Should your CAD view display incomplete or inaccurate circles:

Open Windows 'Regions and Languages' in 'System control' and select 'Further settings', then replace the
decimal comma by a decimal point or vice versa.

Windows System Control Show window contents while dragging

In order to optimize the screen settings for CALYPSO the setting 'Show window contents while dragging'
should be deactivated. Adjust the setting in Advanced system settings/Visual effects:

Manipulation of Installed Files and Folders

Installed CALYPSO files must not be manipulated! By renaming or removing files that are installed in the
CALYPSO folder (including installed user data!), you can cause malfunction of your application. By doing so
the Windows Installer autorepair function might be launched unsuccessfully. Inserting program files manually
(via Windows Explorer) can also cause faulty operation.

3 CALYPSO New Features

3.1 Handling, Operation and Performance
3.1.1 Enhanced handling concept and touch screen operation
Completely adaptable user interface and support for numerous touch commands to work without a mouse.

Configurable menu functions Individual menu entries or entire menu trees can be hidden.
These special configurations can be saved in a file and imported from there again. To return to the original
CALYPSO settings, the Suggest button has to be pushed.

User interface switchable between drop-down interface or ribbon interface.

19.12.2014

New one-click log. The CAD view is generated with a single click as a portrait or landscape log depending
on the page ratio.
.

The element tree and the presentation log can be shown or hidden by sliding to the left or right.

19.12.2014

Users can navigate through the element tree and the presentation log by sliding up or down.

Interactive presentation log. Characteristics in the log can be selected directly. The results are immediately
shown in the CAD display. Double-clicking in the log opens the characteristic for editing. The presentation
log updates immediately during the measurement.

New integrated power feature

The power feature concept allows you to
integrate your
own or user-defined
characteristics and analyses into CALYPSO.
The toolboxes can be docked.

Manual measurement wizards

When measuring manually, only the selected
geometry is taken into consideration by feature
recognition, i.e. only circle, cylinder or planes.
Element assignment is used when the measuring
points in a generated measurement plan are
assigned to the respective features. If no
assignment is found, a new feture is generated.

CALYPSO Copyright 1996-2014 Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. All rights reserved.

19.12.2014

3.1.2 AutoRun - extended functionality

New functions for the automation interface simplify operation and enhance visualization.
Mandatory output of measuring run information when CNC starts in AutoRun. The system configurator
of AutoRun is able to configure measurement plan or pallet icons. It can specify that a measurement plan, a
document, PDF, image, etc. opens when CNC starts. The CNC run is delayed until the user has seen the
document and continues or discontinues the run.
The document is compiled by the customer and usually contains information about clamping, strategies on
how the base system will be calibrated, required styli, layout for stylus racks, etc. Machine operators
therefore control if the workpiece is correctly clamped, if the right stylus is in the rack, etc.

Retroactively open compact log. In the heat of the battle, it is possible for a user to close a log before
looking at it. This usually results in a loss of actual values in AutoRun. In the context menu of an icon, the
user can retroactively open the compact log again (but only from the last run).
Save CALYPSO session file in CNC (and also in AutoRun) Until now, it was only possible to manually
save session files of special characteristic point quantities. Session files are special lists with nominal and
actual points that are particularly used by CT or line scan applications. The session files can be imported via
CALYPSO or ACIS Viewer.

CALYPSO Copyright 1996-2014 Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. All rights reserved.

19.12.2014

3.1.3 Measurement plan search function for features containing directory paths
Additional search function enables simple search for all features containing directory paths.
You can search for features throughout the measurement plan, which contain the directory path
Search for Paths in the global PCM parameters (under CNC, measurement plan function, parameters)
Paths, PCM file commands and PCM system commands in the input/output settings of the measurement
plan, features, characteristics and travel paths. Paths in names for output files. Paths in features such as
point recall from file. Paths in characteristics such as tolerance curve from the file for waviness. Special PCM
files such as inspection_start_pcm_txt. The icons in the results window appear as they would for a search for
parameters/formulas. Double-clicking a characteristic or feature marks it in the tree view. There is also a
replace function.

3.1.4 Open dialog windows in fixed location

The user-friendliness of CALYPSO will improve by opening windows at their last known position and support
by adapting the windows to the individual needs of the user and opening them at their last position.
If the Open at last position setting (previously Open in defined position) is activated, all windows that
previously opened with the standard setting now open at their last position. This does not include standard

3.1.5 Flexible measurement strategy for 2D-Line

New line measurement strategy for 2D line and measurement strategy for surface line for cones.
Interrupted lines and surfaces can now be measured with a single 2D line feature.
Line measurement strategy for 2D lines
Operators have the option of moving, extending or
shortening a line via two parameters that they can enter in
the user interface. Furthermore, they have the possibility of
inverting the measuring direction by entering a negative
value for the line. These two parameters (entry fields) can
also be parameterized via PCM.
Note: It is not possible to freely define the start and end
points. The points must be located on the geometry (2D
line).

Line measurement strategy for surface lines

The functionality of Surface line for cones corresponds to
that of Surface line for cylinders. It is possible to scan the
surface line or measure with single points. Furthermore, it is
also possible to enter additional parameters such as
scanning speed, step width, number of points, etc.
Note: Unlike Surface line for cylinders, it is not possible to
define an analysis range (analysis) for Surface line for
cones.

3.1.6 ID-Chip with CALYPSO

Users of all CMMs with ID wiring and programmed sensors (VAST, XXT...) will benefit from the automatic
recognition of styli via ID chip. Better collision protection through recognition of mix-ups and easier operation
are the results.

As CALYPSO learns the ID chips of the stylus systems used, it enables the clear recognition of the
stylus system

Recognition of the stylus system when (re)starting and when manually changing the stylus

Simplified work following an error or collision during stylus change-out

Fast recognition of mistakes with adapter plates

A continuation of a CNC run may also be possible when a rack is improperly loaded as a result of
software-guided user actions.

The behavior of the software can be modified through a few mode to the intended purpose and the
existing hardware configuration (all sensors detectable/ mixed operation)

Wizard for (fully automatic) learning or review of a full rack with a single click

Display of the IDs in the stylus data management system, the individual IDs of these chain(s) are
printed on the sensors/ plates (exception: XXT plates)

CALYPSO Copyright 1996-2014 Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. All rights reserved.

19.12.2014

If a wrongly used sensor can be identified with absolute certainty, the name of the recognized stylus system
is shown, otherwise only the ID chain of the plate is shown.

CALYPSO Copyright 1996-2014 Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. All rights reserved.

19.12.2014

If a component or stylus system is relearned for multi-level sensors (e.g. XXT, TP200)all previously learned
stylus systems that use these components are automatically updated. This simplifies change-out, e.g. for a
single XXT

Learning, as well as any errors and warnings are shown in the results window.

3.1.7 Optimized Scanning function for passive Sensors

Automatically adapted repeat measurements with air scanning

When scanning with passive sensors (XXT), the stylus can partially lift from the material (air
scanning) if the location error of the feature exceeds the nominal value by too much and at high
travel
speeds,
meaning
that
not
all
areas
are
measured
as
intended.
Until now, this was only shown in the Run notes window and in the log.
With air scanning (at least 1 point without contact to the workpiece), a repeat measurement of the
affected
feature
occurs
automatically.
(Scanning with specification of the measured actual location and at half scanning speed).

Activation:
To avoid unintentionally changing the behavior of existing measurement plans through a new version, the
improved behavior must be intentionally activated by the user via the Scanning optimization for passive
sensors compatibility mode (drop-down menu -> setup -> Compatibility settings...). For new measurement
plans (from CALYPSO 5.6), the enhanced behavior is automatically activated.
Sphere of action:
Activation is based on the measurement plan. A repeat measurement occurs when the feature contains at
least one circular or helical scanning path and at least 1 point without contact to the workpiece was
recognized. The entire feature is then re-measured.

3.1.8 Definable shortcuts / direct calls

Fast access to functions through assignable function keys lead to vastly improved operation.

Access

Drop-down menu Setup Access functions

Access functions with numbers (F12) and shortcuts
The functions of the drop-down window can be accessed with assignable shortcuts (Alt+ or Shift-Alt+) and
function numbers, (particularly for access to control panels without alphanumerical input).

List of functions (F7)

The list of functions is an easily opened window that shows the last 20 (max.) functions used.

Through a simple selection (various possibilities), these functions can be directly accessed without
going back into the drop-down menu.

Every function accessed via the drop-down menu is added to the end of the list; the others move
upwards.

CALYPSO Copyright 1996-2014 Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. All rights reserved.

19.12.2014

A selection of frequently needed functions can be specified (mark with _ as prefix). These are not
displaced when a new function is accessed.

Access functions by name (F5)

The functions of the drop-down menu can be accessed by entering their names.

Auto-complete enables users to access the functions more quickly be entering just a few letters,
which generates a list of hits.

This eliminates the need to look for a function in the drop-down menu.

Circle with 4-point macro at the push of a button on the control panel
Pressing the F11 key (control panel or keyboard) inserts a new circle in the features list and also opens the
4-point circle macro in the strategy (alternatively via the drop-down menu Measure Circle with 4-point
macro). Following an information window about the stylus positioning in the in center of the circle, the circle is
measured semi-automatically with 4 points as before.

3.1.9

Circular path: circular travel path for single-point measurements

Circular path measurement strategy (circular path on plane) in the Plane feature. It is now possible to
configure circular travel paths if Single points has been activated. CALYPSO users can now also use
Circular path on plane for problematic assemblies (see description).
If the Single points function is activated in the Circular path on plane measurement strategy, the travel path
is comprised of the discrete probing points from straight travel paths. This happens although the name
indicates a circular path. With Circular path on plane, only the probing points lie on a circular path. For the
travel path, the shortest possible distance, i.e. the direct path, is selected. This behavior can lead to
collisions in the CNC run if the Circular path on plane is located on a groove on the workpiece or within an
assembly (e.g. bolt). Therefore, the Circular path on plane is limited in use. As a result, CALYPSO users now
have the option of selecting the form of the travel paths themselves: either direct travel paths as before, or
new circular paths.

CALYPSO Copyright 1996-2014 Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. All rights reserved.

19.12.2014

The new behavior of the travel path is integrated into the existing system context. The new, circular travel
path in no way replaces the existing travel path. CALYPSO users have the opportunity to choose from two
types of travel paths: direct or circular. The standard behavior is the direct travel path as before.
