As the days of 1986 are rapidly progressing and the events of last year axe

"beginning to fade, we would like to stop for a moment this aging .process and one
more time express to you our deepest thanks for all your prayers, financial help

and much encouragement received in the past It must have "been the shortest year
in our life - so rapidly it passed! So much did happen during this time in our
personal life and ministry.

Let me recall just a few memories from our life. We thank God that we are

still in good health. Benjamin is growing hoth physically and spiritually. His
Q,uestlons and conversations with us are more mature and show us that he under
stands the "basics of faith, and that he is making progress in his spiritual

development .Yet he needs our prayers and more encouragement throu^ exemplary
Christian living. Xast year Benjamin surprised us also with his scholary

achievements "by winning the public speech competition in his school, in his
school district, and then on the city level. He was also invited to give his
speech on Toronto City Television, for the lion's Club and several different
assemblies. Who knows.. .maybe another preacher or missionary is growing!
But also about a year ago at this time we received one bad news from
Poland. Andrew Bajenski my nephew and the minister of the Christian Church in
Warsaw ended up in the hospital with tuberculosis. This news hastened my plans
of visiting Poland. I was glad to spend several weeks in May and June with the
Warsaw congregation which is my home church, and with Andrew's family, and with
other of our friends. We are glad to report to you to-day that both Andrew and
the church in Warsaw are doing fine. This month Andrew finished his last dose

of antibiotics that were prescribed for his illness and now he is for a month
at a sanitorium for rehabilitation trying to regain his fvOl strength for new

responsibilities. In spite of this situation the Warsaw church had over 20

additions through baptism and several transfers. The Church is growing and we
thank the Lord for allowing us to be a part of this ministry.

During my last spring visit in Poland we were involved in the closing

services of the first year of work of the Correspondence Bible Seminary in
Warsaw. Over 40 students successfully completed their first year of study and

were eagerly waiting for their summer work. We were also thankful to God for
our successful negotiations and recovery of part of the property of the
Ostroda Youth Camp grounds that were lost about ten years ago. Now work is

progressing for adapting these enlarged facilities for "better use for God's
glory.

Recently we had the thrilling experience of receiving a letter from Peter,

a ninteen year old young man from Warsaw with whom we became acquainted during
the recent Polish economic crises. Peter is quadriplegic, but with God's help

and through God's people such as Joni Eareckson Tada we were able to help Peter
both physically and spiritually. His last letter written to us was his first
letter written all by himself with pen in mouth. Peter wrote, ''The joy in my
life comes when I can be at the Piilawska Street Christian Church.

Here at home in Toronto our radio work was continuing as always with letters

from listeners coming in# Several transpoirbs of food and. medical aid. were organ
ized and sent to Poland. On top of all of this since September we were moving,
with delays and frustrations, "but movingJ. As you possibly are aware of the

to a small home on the east side of the city.

But that was not the only .move. After our Mission office lease expired in

September it was decided not to renew the lease so the Mission relocated the

business office in the home of George Repetski and the recording studio in our
new residence. It took quite an effort and time to set everything up in its

proper place but the work and our personal life had to continue "normally.

Since Charles Branum terminated his work with the Mission most of the recording

and pro^am production became my responsibility. So for the last several months
in addition to preparing and recording my Polish Gospel programs I am a^so
preparing the technical part of the Russian and Ukranian programs. All of this

takes much time but the results of this labour are very encouraging. Souls are
saved and the Church is getting stronger.

I hope you can understand some of these our joys and frustrations of the
last few months of our life and work, especially as Vera was in the ^ddle of
all of these our family and Mission activities, trying to help me and Benjamin,
and yet keep the home open for all who are involved in this ministry. Please

remember us in prayer. We appreciate your encouragement.

Before closing this letter I would like to share with you::.'one ^more-^

information that demands much prayer and preparation. This is concerning o^

summer. The Lord willing we would like to spend two months of this si^er in
Poland, working with the camp and visiting churches and individuals with whom
we are in correspondence. It is exactly twenty years.-agoithati.wec.ooiiducted^our .
first Youth Camp in Poland. There are scheduled some special church acti^tles,
conferences and youth programs. We are invited and we would like to be there
this summer in Poland as a family. Actually it will be the last time that _

Benjamin will be able to travel with us on a half fare basis as he is still under
the age of twelve. We need to raise 2,500 dollars to make this trip and our
ministry this summer in Poland possible. We ask you to help us with prayer and
if possible with finances. Please designate your contribution on the trip to
Poland. We will keep you up-dated on future developments in our life and
ministry.

the past year's achievements which the Lord has
enabled us to accomplish. Furthermore, we would
like to share some of the aspirations that are

years on the translation of the Old Testament
section of HALLEY'S BIBLE HANDBOOK. In 1985 his

only Siberia but also the Western part of the
Soviet Union.

the committee to formulate plans for further
development of the grounds to include winter

school facility. Also, a huge youth rally took
place in the centre of Warsaw during September
of 1985.
This was a first as over 4,000 young
people from various churches gathered to hear
Gospel singing and expository preaching. More
over, not only did we see the spiritual needs
of the Polish people met but also, through the
assistance of International Aid based in Michi

Poles attended to.

food, medical supplies and clothing found their
way to Poland and were shared with churches,
needy people, hospitals, orphanages and the
Ostruda Camp.

What aspirations do we have for Poland in

Several.
It is quite obvious that a

We will continue this throughout 1986 with the
hope that even more stations could be found to

met two young Soviet citizens who were visiting

Every Saturday their youth gathers for a Bible
study. The choir rehearses every Tuesday which
in actuality also becomes a service of preach
ing and prayer.
Following the Sunday evening
service, the youth remain for a time of fellow
ship which again, in essence, becomes a full
service.

Several different groups meet in the church:

a prayer and Christian literary group, also a
group calling itself "The Good Samaritan." The
latter helps out people requiring material and
practical assistance.
Young people from this
group travel to neighbouring villages and per
form such deeds as digging up potatoes for a
single, middle-aged woman, repairing living
quarters and other things of this nature. Dur
ing the last year by fall, this church baptized
around 70 people.
Our
friend
queried
the young
Soviet
believers further as to whether such opportuni
ties for active Christian ministry exist only
in Brest.
They answered that in all churches
in the Moldavian, Ukrainian, Belorussian and
Baltic Republics of the Soviet Union such op
portunities are being realized.
They did add
that they could not speak for churches in the
Siberian part of the USSR" because they had
never travelled there.
But they assured our
friend that their description of Christian
service for youth in the Western part of the
Soviet Union is accurate.

REPORT ON ANDREW BAJENSKI

It is our conviction that the radio ministry
presents the greatest opportunity to reach Sla
vic people in Russia with the Gospel of Christ.
We have the potential to reach 275 million
souls over short-wave radio in many parts of
the Soviet Union covering both large cities and
remote villages.
Our radio programs and other
related ministries in the different Slavic lan

guages are reaching out to another 100 million

in Eastern Europe. These are the opportunities
of our time which require much prayer, finan
cial means and qualified workers.

friends who remembered him, his family and the
church where he serves during the time of his
prolonged illness last year.
As of now,
Andrew's health has improved. In January Andrew
took his last dosage of lung medication, and
now during the month of February he will be in
a sanitorium in Southern Poland. In spite of
some difficulties due to Andrew's illness, the
Warsaw congregation still grew with over twenty
new additions through baptism.
