inviting place where children can hear the gospel,

and grow as disciples who know and trust Jesus.

Prayer August 6th

6:00-7:00pm

As I was sitting in my office late April I was praying for

the nursery project and I was struck by a particular
vision and scripture. As I closed my eyes I saw young
children being prayed over and the bible being read
to them. I heard the gospel being shared, and at that
moment I heard Acts 11:26, For a whole year they
met with the church and taught a great many people.
And in Antioch the disciples were first called
Christians.
My prayer out of that moment is that by seeking the
Lord we would establish a Little Antioch, a safe and

Are YOU passionate about seeing the

the world changed, both locally and
globally, for the sake of the Gospel?
Then you need to attend this meeting!

I see Little Antioch as a special place that when they

look back they will know that it was there that they
first heard the gospel, and because of that they are
now called Christians.
Excited? I certainly am, but as with anything I have to
make sure my excitement doesnt exceed my
obedience because none of this is possible without
prayer. Prayer delights Him and unites us.
Please consider joining us in prayer from
6:00-7:00pm Thursday night. Come for as little or as
long as you can, BUT please come because we need
your prayer interceding and seeking god in that space
for what will do for His glory and the joy of the
Gospel in this project!

Its Time to
Get Invested
In THIS weeks newsletter we are offering some
simple opportunities to get connected and start
serving in the church. We are a family - not a
business. In a business consumer arrives, is
served, and leaves. In a family we all joyfully
and sacrificially serve one another in love.

MEETING

August 5th at 7pm

I am not talking to those who have been

serving, but those who have not yet found a
place to plug-in. Where should I serve? Lets be
honest sometimes you wont know it till you
jump in and show up. So pick a number from
#1 through #7 ....or maybe even be
adventurous and pick
2, 3, or 4 numbers!
The point is this: Prayerfully consider the ways
you might serve in your church family today!

What a Great Sunday!

Sunday, Don Estep came and shared a message
about making children a priority in our lives.
Many may have been expecting an AWANA
message from Don, as he is our AWANA
missionary, but he touched the very heart of our
desire to point the next generation towards
Gospel hope in Christ.
If we are honest we havent put kids first. We
havent gathered to pray fervently for the next
generation. We havent plied our budget to
reaching out and into the lives of kids. So we
have some repenting to do, but thanks be to God,
for He is glorious in His mercy, kindness, and
forgiveness. Now is the time.

#3

I want to challenge you to start

praying for the upcoming
nursery project and AWANA
program. Nothing starts without
prayer and everything ceases for a lack of it.
Every single one of us regardless of qualification,
are qualified to come before Christ in praise and
prayer.

What Else Happened Sunday?

After service we had a fantastic Taco Bar lunch
provided by a GREAT bunch of wonderful
volunteers. We filled every table with great food
and conversation - PRAISE GOD!
Angenette Hart (Puckett) decided to accept Jesus
Christ as her Lord and Savior and came to discuss
baptism. PRAISE GOD! A central part of her
testimony was the things that Mrs. Lori has been
teaching in Childrens Church! Thank God for
Mrs. Lori and her faithfulness. PRAISE GOD!
Lastly, we had over 35-40 different
volunteers, some who have never
served, stay for AWANA training
Sunday afternoon - PRAISE GOD!
There is still needs. So if you feel led to
volunteer contact Bruce at: bhenrikson@parkland.edu

Sometimes there are stories in the

life of the church that can be told,
and other times ones that cannot.
What I want you to know is that in
every one of those stories the Elders
give themselves fully to the task of
protecting, loving, and shepherding
the church. Does that mean they
are perfect? No, but they are good
men, called by God.
As many of you who attended the
Semi-Annual Business meeting
know, there was some concern
raised regarding the name of the
church, and the name of the village
of Mahomet. After that meeting the
Elders set themselves to the task of
praying and seeking the Lord, as
well as researching it the best they
could.
After much prayer and walking in
love alongside the Lord revealed
Monday night, through a village
historian that an early founder of
Mahomet was tied to a Connecticut
Chief of the Mohegan tribe. This
historian spent six years and only as
recent as six months ago got to the
heart of this. There is even some
talk of possibly bringing a
representative from the tribe to
dedicate the name formally.
God is good, and so are the leaders
He has appointed in our church.
Those whose Kingdom work often
never gets told, but whose
faithfulness on your behalf is great.
Please pray for the Elders today -

Bruce Henrikson, David Eichstedt, Skip

Dovel, and Mike Piasecki. They are a
blessing to us!

As you may know, the United States

along with the leaders of 5 other
countries, have signed a deal with Iran
which includes some language and
promises that are very dangerous to the
well being of our nation, and to the
stability of Israel and the Middle-East.

At the Sangamon River Festival we will be

doing two things at our booth. First, we are
telling people about AWANA, but also we are
doing something crazy - Offering prayer.

Why?
September 6th at 6:00pm

at Community Evangelical Free Church

of Mahomet - Make a difference!
We have an opportunity to lift our voices in a powerful
way and lend our support to our leaders, thereby being
instrumental in pursuing a better deal.

Because we believe that what people need

more than anything is the intercession and
encouragement that comes from Gods Spirit
through prayer.

Will you join us?

Peggy Shapiro, Midwest Director of StandWithUs will be at the

Community Evangelical Free Church of Mahomet, September 6th, at
6:00pm, to discuss this very important and urgent situation. Peggy
will help us understand how we can practically engage in a letterwriting campaign to voice our concerns and encourage our leaders.

Read Hebrews 12:1 - Can you imagine how many faithful followers
of Christ have come before you? I certainly cannot. The Bible here
calls them the great cloud of witness, but sadly many today want
to dismiss all that has come before us. Yet, the Bible celebrates them,
and says that through their encouragement we lay aside EVERY
weight and sin. On a recent trip to Champaign I witnessed a large
storm front moving in. It was as if there was one great cloud that
was rolling forward in power and majesty across the sky. That is the
way I imagine the momentum we have through the great cloud of
witness.
