INTRODUCTION

This report has been written as a requirement to complete a mini survey fo course
Communicative English 3 (AE501). This report was requested by Madam Khairul Bariah,
English lecturer. the title of this survey is to study facilities in Politeknik Sultan Haji
Ahmad Shah ( POLISAS) library. The objective of this mini project are to survey the
opinion about library facilities and the recommendation to overcome the problem. The
collection of date were gathered 31 July 2014. the methodology used to collect the data
was through a questionnaire survey from the date 27 July to 29 July. The questionnaires
were distributed to a total of student consist of 10 peoples from Diploma In Logistics and
Supply Chain, 10 peoples from Diploma Accountancy and 10 peoples from Diploma ECommerce. All of respondents were from semester 3,4 and 5

a) To determine whether the students were satisfied with library facilities
b) To investigate whether the students feel comfortable and concentrated while using
the library
c) To find out new suggestion for the improvement of POLISASs library

Based on the bar chart above, it can be seen that both female and male were represent 50%
from each gender. All respondents are from semester 3, 4 and 5 which all of them from 3
courses

The pie chart above show the frequency students visit the library in POLISAS. It can be
seen that 43% of the respondents came to the library 2 times per week. 30% respondents
came to the 1 time per week while only mere respondents came to the library 3 times per
week which represent 17%. 10% respondents only came to the library once a month.

The highest operating time chooses by respondents were 8am 8pm which represented
40%, while 27% respondents agreed with both operating hour at 9am 7pm and 9 am
8pm. The lowest percent represented on operating hour 8am -7pm which is 6%.

The graft shows Academic books were highest percentage choose by respondents which
represented 50%. 20% show the second highest is religion books and 17% is represented by
journal. The last type of reading material is a magazine which is 13%.

The lowest facilities are none of the above which only 3%. Then 17%are discussion room
and locker was 23%. The highest facilities choose by respondents is printing area which
represented 57%.

The graft show 3% is the lowest arrangement of books on the shelf was very poor and
the highest arrangement of books on the shelf is 60% was good. then 30% respondents
represented poorly. the least arrangement of books on the shelf is excellent which is
7%.

The graft show respondents agreed and disagree are students locker must
be upgraded equally same which is 20%. the highest students locker must be upgrade is
strongly agree which is 57%. the least is 3% respondents was strongly disagree are the
lowest.

7. Wi-Fi is so slow and has been complaints by the students that use the Wi-Fi? What
do you think the librarian should do to speed up the Wi-Fi?

The pie chart shows that 67% of respondents are agreeing to ask the librarian to
create a free Wi-Fi in the library. 17% of respondents would like to ask the librarian
to add the capacity of Mbps to Wi-Fi. Only 10% respondent needs the change the
server and 6% use the time in using Wi-Fi

8. A coffee corner is not available to all students because the place is crowded. What
will you suggest the Polytechnic Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah action?

The highest areas that need to be created is a coffee corner which is


47% respondents, while the list is only 10%, which is put some cups and mineral
water to drink. Both 20% and 23% respondents choose to put massage chair and
add some cushion respectively.

9. Do you think musala need to be upgrade due to the increase of students using the
library?

The graft shows partially agreed and disagreed was equally same which is 3% and the
highest absolute agreed was 50%. The lastly respondents which are 43% was agreed.

10. Code at the library is not arrange carefully. What is your suggestion?

The chart shows 16% are the lowest respondents by asking the librarian to take care of the
shelf one place one librarian and 33% respondents are suggestion write the subject on the
shelf for easy finding. Lastly the highest respondents suggest a list of the codes of the
books on every shelf was 54%.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, from the survey, it was found out that there were respond of the student
Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (POLISAS) as a platform to survey about the facilities
provide at POLISASs library.
Furthermore, it can be seen through the analysis made respondent view the facilities
provided are not satisfying. Be understood that students felt that few areas provided
by librarians need to upgrade and access to the internet network is not satisfactory. In
addition, the majority of students most of the Muslim agreed that need to upgrade musala
due to the increasing number of students in POLISAS. Besides that, a few area need to
create to make the library as a comfortable place to study and read.
At the same time, that outstandingly high percentage respondents agreed that facilities at
POLISASs library is not enough and must make any improvement or always update some
service that provided in POLISAS.

RECOMMODATION :
Based on the survey facilities provided at POLISASs library as a platform to make all the
student comfortable. There are some suggestion or recommendation to improve the
facilities in POLISASs library :
1. We suggest that we must make an upgrade in their service in the service
2. We suggest that add some magazine and academic books in the library to attract more
students come to the library often
3. suggest that library must make a nice place to study
4. We suggest that the library adds coffee area or any vending machine with reasonable
price
5. The library must upgrade their system and in order to make the library become the
place that for the student to study with comfort and focus
