In the mid-nineteenth century, Frank Wesson designed and began manufacturing a line of very
popular top break (or "hinged breech, as he called them) rifles. They usually featured two triggers
in seperate trigger housings. The front trigger released the action for loading/unloading, much the
same as the old three triggered Stevens shotguns. Early variations saw service during the Civil War
as secondary arms. As the population spread west, so did the Wesson rifles.
In 1871 his nephew, Gilbert Harrington who invented a top-breaking, shell-ejecting revolver,
joined Frank, and the company was renamed Wesson and Harrington. Not only did they continue the
top break Wesson rifles, but branched out into the revolvers as well. In 1875 Wesson sold out his
interest to Williuam Richardson. The company then changed its name to Harrington and Richardson,
and has been producing firearms ever since.
Harrington & Richardsons reputation for excellence became established so firmly, so quickly,
that in 1880 the firm was named sole North American licensee for Englands Anson & Deely doublebarrel hammerless shotgun which was considered to be the finest shotgun available anywhere, at
any price.
H&Rs success led it to break ground for a state-of-the-art factory in Worcester,
Massachusetts, in 1893. Just a few years passed before the factory had to be expanded. It was
here that H&R developed a broad line of firearms, including their innovative single-barrel shotgun,
which featured automatic shell ejection.

Description: Punch dot designs on the barrel, frame and cylinder and the topstrap is marked "VICTOR 2 1/2".
H&R HANDY GUN.

Cal. 22 LR. SN 160.
Single shot pistol, built on a small shotgun frame with 12-1/4" tapered rnd bbl,
pedestal mounted patridge front sight with a fully adjustable unusual rear sight that has a flip up peep aperture.
It has a tiny splinter forearm with flat side receiver marked "H. & R. Handy Gun" on the left side
and has the makers name and address on the right side. It is fitted with a checkered 1-pc walnut grip
that has recesses for a wire shoulder stock attachment.
An original brown leather flap holster with light impressed rope pattern decorations accompanies it.

Dainty little 7-shot revolver with 6" oct bbl, half moon front sight,
flat side frame with removable cylinder and checkered 2-pc saw handle grips.

Identical to the Trapper model only with a 10" oct bbl and tall half moon brass front sight.
It utilizes the same 7-shot cylinder and flat-sided frame and 2-pc saw handle grips.
H&R Revolver
Harrington & Richardson Model 195 U.S.R.A. Single Shot Pistol with Case
Serial# R1121, .22 rimfire caliber. 10" barrel, type 2 keyhole variation, excellent bore.
This scarce pistol, also called the Model 195, retains approximately 99% blue and looks about new.
The checkered walnut grips look about new as well. This is housed in its original black case with green felt lining.

This one has a 2" octagon barrel and is a 7 shot variation that grades 98% overall finish with fine grips initialed on the bottom.
In the original box with a black printed olive cover label reading "Young America Double action 22 caiber, rim fire."
