"Attn"(oroneoftheotherversions)isusedwhenyousendmailtoacompany,butyouthinkaspecificpersonistherightpersontoreadit.
Thisformofaddressingmakesitclearthatitisbusinessmail,notpersonalmail.Ifthatpersonisnotavailableperhapshehasleftthe
company,perhapsshejustbeganatwomonthtrekthroughNepalanotherpersoncanopentheletterwithoutfearofreadinganything
private.
