DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

OBSERVATION:
Site survey was conducted on August 4, 2014 to gather technical information for the
proposed installation of the communication equipment container at the TCC data
center, Dhahran. It was reported during the site survey that the container to be
installed has complete packaged and it is equipped with racks, air conditioning units,
panels and the necessary electrical cables, grounding system and etc. It was
discussed also that the capacity of the communication equipment to be installed in
the containment will be 10 KVA and the electrical power requirement will be fed from
existing power distribution units (PDU). The chilled water requirement of the air
conditioning units installed in the container will be coming from the existing chilled
water piping that were installed under the raised floor.
PROPOSED ACTION PLAN/RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Ensure that the containment design drawings will be submitted for review.
2. Provide new dual supply chilled water piping, humidifier potable water piping
and condensate drain piping for the air conditioning units that are installed
inside the container. Connect the new piping to the existing chilled water,
potable water and drainage piping.
3. Provide isolation valves, circuit setter, three way valve, balancing valve, flexible
pipe connector, strainer, drain with back flush connection, pressure and
temperature gauge.
4. Provide insulation and support for the piping.
5. Connect the new A/C units to the existing fire alarm control panel to have
automatic shutdown during the activation of the fire alarm.
6. Connect the new A/C units to the facility alarm control panel/RTU to have
remote fault monitoring.
7. Built in duty and standby A/C units in the container should have weekly auto
change over and/or in the event of failure of the operating unit.
8. Provide new electrical cables to connect the container to the existing PDUs.
9. Perform testing, adjusting and balancing for the chilled water system.
10. Perform testing and commissioning for the container.

COST ESTMATES
The estimated cost for the engineering design, supply for the materials, construction,
testing and commissioning for the installation of the communication equipment
container at TCC data center, Dhahran is 125,000 dollars.
Cost Breakdown (Cost does not include the communication equipment container
and air conditioning units)
Engineering Design 50,000 dollars
Material/Construction Cost. -- 74,000 dollars
PMT Construction Support 11,000 dollars
DESIGN SCOPE OF WORK
1. Provide design drawing for the installation of the communication equipment
container.
2. Provide the design drawing for the required chilled water, humidifiers potable
water and condensate drain piping for the built in air conditioning units that
are installed in the communication equipment container. Design for the chilled
water supply piping should be redundant (dual) supply. The new piping shall
be connected to the existing piping.
3. Provide design drawing for the isolation valves, circuit setter, three way valve,
balancing valve, flexible pipe connector, strainer, drain with back flush
connection, pressure and temperature gauge, insulation and piping support.
4. Provide the design drawing for the connection of the new A/C units to the
existing fire alarm control panel to have automatic shutdown during the
activation of the fire alarm.
5. Provide the design drawing for the connection of the new A/C units to the
facility alarm control panel/RTU to have fault remote monitoring.
6. Provide the design drawing for the electrical power supply. The power supply for
the container will be fed from the existing power distribution units.
7. Provide design drawing for the civil/structural support for the communication
equipment container.
8. Provide design drawing for the relocation of the existing lighting, detectors and
etc. to avoid obstruction for the installation of the communication equipment
container.
1. Provide the scope of work for the testing, adjusting and balancing.
