THIS IS TO C ERTIFY that ours surveyors, Mr. Danilo Sodr Janurio, with
his assistants did, by the request an d for th e account of Messrs. SAFEMARINE
SERVIOS MARITMOS LTDA., on October 31st 2011 and subsequent days, up to
November 03rd 2011 at Vi tria Por t Capuaba Quay, Br azil, attend on board an d
alongside the M/ V CLIPPER CRISTOBAL, the discharging oper ation of general
cargo (project cargo and wooden boxes) loaded on board the vessel when she
was berthe d at Shanghai - China. This Out Turn Survey is intended for the
purpose of surveying and reporting about the visual con dition of the car go at
inside the hold an d under hooks to Messrs. SAFEMARINE SERVIOS MARITMOS
LTDA., the Company in charge to tran sport car go from ships wharf to stock pile
area as well as in charge for stowing cargo at th e boun ded area. Wh at fol lows
hereafter is the result of the task developed:

Prior to the commencemen t of discharging operation, the undersigned surveyor
boards the vessel and, with permission received from Chief Mate in attendance,
did s tart the survey on cargo hold.
Inside the car go hold, we have foun d damaged cargo, such as broken wooden
boxes,

s teel

par ts

with

rusty

stained,

cargo

with

torn

plastic

packing,

bent/ dented metallic packing an d wooden boxes rainwater damaged ( damage to


the con tents unknown). Vessel was du ly protested, please refer letter of protest
on attachments.

During our inspection, we have noticed that car go was generally bad stowed at
loading port, several steel parts and wooden boxes tou ch each other without
enough space to perform a safety cargo sling.

We h ave also inspected the cargo

securing, wire lasing without means of protection to avoid damage on cargo,


insufficient shoring, dunnage used at wrong place and wrong positions were
noticed by our surveyor. Some wooden boxes and s teel parts were found in risk
of fall.

Vessels cranes equipped with sprea de rs, wire slings and nylon slings were sued
during whole discharging operation. The cargo was duly dischar ged through its
own lifting point, avoi ding damages du ring discharging operation.

During the dischar ging oper ation, a fork lift truck was used inside the hold i n
order to assist stevedores task.

Cargo in risk of fall

We can easily observe a bad stowage, cargo wi thout s pace to make a disch arge
sling and some wooden box es in risk of fall. A fork lift truck was used to move
the wooden box in such way to give a space to make a discharge sling.

Cargo successfully discharged

In such unsafe stowage condition, th e experience and ability of s tevedores are


fundamental to th e achievemen t of discharging operation. Des pite the risk of
fall, the wooden box was successfully discharged.
Inevitable

was

that

some items

have th eir

packing

during

discharging operation, through no fault of stevedores but due to bad stowage


performed at loading por t.

F TRANSPORTING _________________________________________________________
Messrs. Safemarine successfully conducted a well-planed and effective logistic
transport system. During our inspection, we have noticed tr ansport demand duly
fulfilled by Messrs. Safemarine. Open platform trucks and trailers were avail able
and standby for cargo trans porting. No stoppages du e to lack of transporting
was noticed.

G STOCK PILE AREA (BOUNDED AREA)_________________________________________


The car go was properly stored at C apuaba Bounded Area by the m anagement of
Messrs. Safemarine Servios Martimos Ltda. A new modern telescopic boom
truck mounted cran e was used to discharge oversized car go from trucks/trailers
and stock on designed area, resulting no damage to the car go during storage
operations.
