We invite applications for fully sponsored PhDs in The Netherlands followed by an employment offer with
Shell in Bengaluru.
Rising global energy demand and difficult-to-access oil and gas, coupled with environmental and social
issues form the crux of the energy challenge. Energy production in the future needs to become smarter
and more efficient, with a smaller environmental footprint. Computational research is increasingly used
to deliver such innovative technology solutions.
Shell is setting up the Computational Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, India to foster cutting-edge
Computational R&D. Further, Shell has also teamed up with universities in The Netherlands to define a
broad programme in Computational Sciences in various disciplines of science and engineering.

Who we are looking for


The ideal candidate has demonstrated affinity and strong motivation for computational research and is
eager to work on energy challenges in Shell Technology Centre Bangalore (STCB). Candidates should
have a recent or expected Masters Degree (or equivalent postgraduate qualification) in engineering or
science.

Our offer
With effect from the academic year 2016-2017, scholarships for a PhD at a University in The Netherlands
are on offer. The package includes

Challenging research in Computational Science & Engineering, relevant to the energy industry.

(All courses are offered in English)


Access to internships at Shells R&D centres in Europe, US or India (Bengaluru),
Participation in summer schools, workshops and visits to other prestigious research institutes

and universities, as appropriate


Gross annual salary (for the four year term) in the range 28,000 - 36,000

Annual visits to the home country


Upon successful completion of the PhD, the candidates may join the Computational Centre of Excellence
in STCB for an exciting career in advanced computation.

STEP 4: Select Apply to job(s).
STEP 5: If you have already created an account on the Shell Recruitment Day website, please login with
your registered e-mail ID and password else select Create a login, click Agree on data protection
policy and proceed with creating a new account.
STEP 6: Complete the Interactive Online Application Form. Note cookies may need to be enabled. If
your browser throws up an error and you do not see the interactive application form, go back to STEP
1 and click on the link. Select the option 'If you have problems viewing this page, please click here"
and choose Search openings option. Please select option Asia Pacific under region of work location,
India under the option country of work location and English as language. Select Shell NWO FOM
Computational Sciences PhD programme, and apply for jobs.
STEP 7: VERY IMPORTANT- Once inside the Interactive questionnaire, in response to the question on:
Country/ Region of Interest - you will find two India-specific choices - Indiaand IndiaPhD; Choose India-PhD'.

STEP 8: You can save the application form as draft multiple times using the 'Save as Draft' button.
Once completed please press the 'Submit' button. Please note that once you submit, you can no longer
modify the application form or attachments.
STEP 9: Upon submitting the application, you will receive by email a Unique Candidate ID which you
need to use in all your correspondence.
STEP 10: A link for E-Assessment 1 will also be sent to your email within 24hours of you submitting
the application. Click on the link and complete the E-Assessment 1. There are two E-Assessments to be
completed. In case you are successful in E-Assessment 1, you will receive a link for E-Assessment 2
within 24hours of completion. We encourage you to take the assessments as soon as you receive the
links in order to expedite your candidature.
