1. Introduction
This document contains all information about features improvement, new features added and problems
fixed during development of ANSA from version 13.1.1 to version 13.1.2.
NOTES:
ANSA databases saved by ANSA v13.1.2 can be opened by v13.1.1 and v13.1.0 but NOT by older
ANSA versions.

Quality Criteria
The tab Fix Quality in the Mesh Parameters is now respected for
the improvement. Thus, it is important to set the parameters first
and then apply the function.
Now, both mid- and corner nodes are moved.
The algorithm performs faster and more effectively, having

reduced the remaining off elements.
OpenFOAM: Added two quality criteria, Non Orthogonality for Solids and
Growth Rate for Shells and Solids.

Jacobian: Two options are now available. The ANSA which had been in
use up to version 13.0.5 and the method used since v1310 is now called
NASTRAN.
NASTRAN method
Shells: The value of the determinant of the Jacobian matrix is calculated
for each integration point of the element according to NASTRAN.
The reported distortion is calculated as the ratio of the smallest value over
the largest. A reported distortion value of 1 corresponds to the ideally
shaped element. Negative distortion values correspond to concave
elements. First triangles always have a value of 1.
Solids: The value of the determinant of the Jacobian matrix is calculated
for each integration point of the element according to NASTRAN, taking
into account the Integration Network [IN] field, in PSOLID property card.
The reported distortion is calculated as the ratio of the smallest value over
the largest. A reported distortion value of 1 corresponds to the ideally
shaped element. Negative distortion values correspond to concave
elements. First order tetrahedrals always have a value of 1. For 2 nd order
CTETRA (10 node) elements, corner points are also considered.

BOXES
CHECK[Association/Model Fit]: New function to check the points,

edges and faces association by defining a tolerance. The function also
supports fix. In addition, the distances - between the boxes and the
geometry - exceeding the given tolerance, are detected and listed.

Added the option __order__ that displays the order of shells or solids,
faces or volumes.

UTIL>Match Parts: Finds the best matrix to match the source and
target parts. The mean distance of all entities is taken into account for
the matching (Criterion).

K_RBODY: Introduced the option draw per KinRbody in the right click list, which colors
according to the color column in the list. In addition, this mode selection is displayed in the
Visibility>Draw Mode.
K_RBODY / K_JOINT: Added the options Explode/ Unexplode view in the right click list. At
joints, it applies only on the K_RBODIES that this join connects, whereas for R_BODIES the
explosion affects the entire model.

CFAST: added the option Freely on Surfaces.

CWELD: The solids' nodes can now be selected.
Input / Output
Support input/output of pyramids in NX Nastran, using keyword CPYRAM.
A file with additional include files that do not have heading comments,
*HEADING keyword is not written in the includes output files.
A single file without heading comments, *HEADING is written in the

output file along with a blank line below it.
When the extraction of a PBMSECT / PBRSECT according to Nastran

format is impossible, during output the property is written as PBEAM / PBAR
respectively.

Script Collection
Pids2Mids : Renumbers materials so that they have the same id with the properties. In case one
material is used by more than one properties, copies of this material are generated in order for the 1-1
correspondence to be generated.
CheckInclude , checks if the following are in different includes:
- Parts/Elements
- Nodes/Elements
- Mass/Nodes
- Parts/Materials
The available fixes can be used for moving entities from one include to another.
ConvertNSMLToGEB_MT : Converts all the NSML entities of type PSHELL into GEB_MTs. The
created GEB_MTs are automatically applied and they assign the calculated values in the NSM field of
PSHELLs. The user optionally can delete or keep the converted NSMLs.
ConvertEnts2GEBs_GN: The script converts RBE2, RBE3, RBAR, CBAR, CBEAM, CBUSH, CGAP, or
CROD elements, to GEBs_GN with interface RBE2, RBE3, or RBAR, according to user's selection. It
also deletes the original elements and any entity applied on their master node (e.g. force, mass etc.). In
order the script to work, the user must have a DM root directory already defined. Attention... this works
in cases where the original elements are structured like "spiders" on holes, and thus the searching
pattern of the GEB is always "Hole".
DoeStudy: The function has been removed.
PackModel: Creates a package of all the external files (library items) referenced by the model in a
designated directory. Additionally, the user can add to the package:
- The parts of the model, as these are saved in the DM
- The includes of the model, as these are described in the "FullPathName" field.
Under Linux, the package can be also zipped. This package can be then transferred and used as a DM
path, so that all external references of the model are valid.
SplitGeoCurves: Splits selected geometric curves in a number specified by the user. At the end, the
created curves divide equally the original one.
ComparisonReport: This script can be used in conjunction with the Compare Tool of ANSA Part
Manager. It creates a report of the differences between compared ANSA parts. The report is in pptx
format. The path of the current script must be defined in the 'MetaPost script file' field of the 'File>Export
diffs' function.
PickFromList: Opens any list with all existing entities of the selected type. The user is able to select
from the list. The selected entities are stored in a global variable called 'selected' for further usage. Use
the popup menu of an entity using the right mouse button. Highlight effects are also available.
ShowList: It has been removed and its operation is included in PickFromList.
PointFromRBE2: This function creates fast 3D Points at the mid point of two or multi-node rbe2's
RotateElementLocalSys: Rotates the local coordinate system of shell elements either by
clockwise/counter-clockwise rotation by 90 (or 60) degrees or by alignment with the local system of a
selected shell.
CreateSetBuildersForMassBalance: Creates a set-builder for all the ANSA groups identified
in a top-level group, specified by the user. The set-builders can be then used
for the set-up of the Mass Balance tool in Task Manager
CheckTriasAttachedOnSpider2: Identifies trias that share a common edge with the zone of SPIDER2
spotwelds.

3. Known Problems resolved in v13.1.2

General
Following the sequence SET PID NOT SET PID, led to abnormal termination. The case
occurred only in Windows platforms.
Windows>Options: Fields marking (for edit) became in-active when the cursor pointed out
of the field.
Occasionally TOPO>GEOMETRY>TRANSF led to abnormal exit.
