Position Description: Data Scientist

Cignifi (www.cignifi.com) is a fast-growing financial technology start-up

company that has developed the first proven analytic platform to deliver credit
and marketing scores for consumers using mobile phone behavior data. Cignifis
big data platform enables mobile operators and banks, insurers, and retailers to
qualify and contact millions of underserved consumers who lack traditional
credit histories. Cignifi is based in Cambridge, MA and is backed by leading
venture capital firms in Silicon Valley.
The Opportunity
Cignifi is in a period of rapid growth with new partners and customers in major
emerging markets. We are looking to hire a Data Scientist to join the Companys
data science team based in Cambridge, MA. The data science team develops a
scalable big data pipeline and machine learning system using cutting edge
technologies, such as Apache Spark and Hadoop. We tackle challenging
problems such as generating valuable real time insights through terabytes of
mobile data and researching social connectivity.
The Data Scientist will be based at the company's head-office in Boston but will
engage with global clients in Latin America and elsewhere to provide predictive
modeling solutions and production support. His/her responsibilities will include
but are not limited to predictive modeling and data mining, cloud computing,
big data processing, and production implementation assistance.

You are responsible to:

Work on predictive modeling, data mining and social network analysis

projects.
Help the team to streamline and improve the data pipeline. Develop
processes and methodologies for data processing, and assist the software
engineering team to develop tools for scalable implementation.
Develop analytical algorithms to be deployed within our products, and
research new algorithms to enhance our data science toolbox.
Develop monitoring and QA systems for ETL, modeling and production,
and work closely with the engineering team to deploy the solutions.
Engage with our global clients to address technical business
requirements.

Our requirements for the position:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or a

similar field (higher degree in related fields is a plus).
Minimum 1 year of working experience in a related area

Experience in at least one of the following languages: Python, R, Spark,

Pig/Hive
Strong Unix skills using shell script languages.
Knowledge of predictive modeling and data mining or artificial
intelligence.
Knowledge of the data modeling pipeline, including data parsing,
cleaning, hashing, and feature engineering.
Excellent communication skills
Must be able to perform in a fast-moving environment, comfortable
working individually as well as collaborating closely with a global team.

Preferred (not required):

Social net work analysis skills

Natural language processing skills.
Spanish-speaking is a plus
