ACC :: Flexibility
Vendor Agnostic
Supports any Core Cellular Technology providers IP-enabled base station.
Supports any Satellite Technology providers IP-enabled modem.

Transparent
Operates over point-to-point or shared tdma.

Frequency Agnostic
Ku, C, Ka, L band.

Extensibility
Implementation of XipLinks XHO solution significantly reduces outbound
http traffic reduction that can be leveraged across multi-service networks
(WiFi hot spots, WiMAX, etc.) to support WISP type functionality and
cellular offload.

XipLink ACC :: Feature Set

GTP Transparency

End user LTE traffic is encapsulated within GPRS Tunneling Protocol (GTP)
GTP hides TCP so it is not available to be accelerated and optimized
Unaccelerated TCP/LTE limited to a few Mbps, does not deliver real LTE
XipLinks GTP Transparency demonstrated at speeds > 100Mbps
Supports XipLink SCPS acceleration and XHO web optimizations for LTE
Cache technique that reduces bandwidth for repeating data patterns

Byte Caching

Dramatic bandwidth savings for 2nd pass data Up to 80% reduction

Implemented at network layer to capture repeats from any IP traffic
Supports partially repeating data like web pages with dynamic content
Systematically caches viral videos, software updates, landing pages

Header
Compression
& Coalescing

Optimizes small & frequent packets such as VoIP and cellular signaling
Robust Header Compression (ROHC) greatly reduces headers
VoIP trunks can save > 50% bandwidth for multiple calls
Coalescing multiple packets, can dramatically reduce packet rate > 90%
Payload and voice MOS scores are unaffected by optimization

Packet
Compression
& Learning

Payload (data) compression technique for first pass savings, typ. 20%+
Fast, lossless compression of any compressible packets/content
Operates at IP level, supporting TCP, UDP and cellular optimization
Learning leverages previous packets to increase compression efficiency
Particularly effective with cellular data, additional benefits of up to
10%

ACC Features :: Detailed Descriptions

Packet Learning:
Extends packet compression by adding a micro-cache of previous packets to use as a dictionary for
compressing subsequent packets. This is effective for small data patterns repeating in packets. Learns
compression pattern dictionaries from previous packets. Robust against packet loss with no additional
overhead.
XipLink Real Time (XRT):
An optimization capability that compresses, coalesces and prioritizes VOIP and UDP traffic for
significantly more bandwidth and packet efficiency without compromising quality. It provides key
benefits including dramatic bandwidth reduction, significant reduction in the packets per second
carried over a network, and ensures that real time traffic is properly prioritized for optimum quality.
XRT optimizes small packets, in particular VOIP, but Skype and other UDP/TCP applications with many
small packets can also benefit from XRT. While there are now many highly bandwidth efficient VOIP
codecs available, they cannot address the header overhead. XRT removes the high overhead
associated with IP packet delivery.

Byte Caching:
A compression technology leveraging an auto-learning dictionary cache that remembers data patterns
which have transited the network. If a duplicate is seen a very short token is substituted for the
repeating pattern. XipLinks Byte Caching can result in large bandwidth savings for common traffic
patterns and repeats of the same file even if there have been changes to it. Remote response time
improvements on repeating patterned data resultant from significant data transit reduction.
XipLinks byte caching implementation will also provide meaningful backhaul bandwidth savings from
video reduction, which accounted for 51% of mobile data traffic in 2012 (Cisco Visual Networking Index:
Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast Update, 20122017. February 2013).
Packet Compression:
Leverages existing compression algorithms in the XipOS toolkit and particularly ideal for cellular data
optimization. Uses XipLink Lightweight Tunnels (LWT) for logical connection between sites.
Compression effectiveness varies but is in a range of 20%-25% standalone benefit for compressible
traffic (i.e. unencrypted cellular data) and 10% +/- benefit for cellular voice or encrypted traffic when
used in conjunction with XipLink Real-Time (Coalescing + ROHC).
